Canada Visa Revalidation

Hi...

Just in case our visa application is denied in Canada, are they going to cancel the existing valid visa? I assume they will not, since they are still valid for at least a year.

I just want to make sure that we can still use this existing visa, in case of a denial to come back to the US.

I can't find a checklist of the steps to follow to revalidate my visa in Vancouver. I looked at the FAQ questions but they are not that clear.

What are the steps in revalidating visa in Vancouver Canada?

1) Get a Canadian visa?
2) Appointment thorough 1-900 / web site?
3) Interview...

How long will it take for us to get the passports with visa back? I need this information so that I will know how much time off are needed.

THANKS A TON!

Hi!
As far as I know, if you have valid visa you will be able to get back into the U.S. even in case of a denial. But isn't it one year too early to apply for a new visa? I thought you couldn't renew it earlier than six months.

The steps are basically what you have already listed here: Canadian visa, appointment at Vancouver, interview. If they decide to stamp your passport they give it to you on the same day. If they decide to perform that feared background check I've heard it can take anywhere upto six weeks. But I guess you'll be fine with your back-up.
Check Canadian consulate, American embassy and the state department Web sites for more and official information.
Good luck!

My understanding is If your visa is denied for what ever reason, your all old visa will be cancelled without prejudice.
I might be wrong on this.

Thanks for the reply...

Can someone pls confirm if the existing visa will be cancelled in case of a denial in Canada? (Will not be held liable in any way shape or form)

I just want some majority opinions here.

The thing is..we are planning on a vacation this coming Dec and our visa stamp will expire 1st week of Jan 2005. We will only have 3 days left upon return to the US.

If we are going to renew our visa in Missouri, the earliest we can submit is November...by that time we won't be getting our passports not until Jan/Feb 2005, by which we can no longer hit the Dec 2004 vacation.
