My wife was working for a company (not consulting though) with her EAD and was paid on hourly basis. That is the main advantage of filing for 140 and 485 concurrently!

GC_Pain, Before filing your case, do a credential evaluation from a reputed company, see whether the evaluated degree matches the same in your labor certificate which you are goling to substitute. If yes, then it should not be a problem. Also check how many years of experience is stated...
