Ameritrade *express* account
You need to be a citizen or a PR for using the express application with Ameritrade. You can ofcourse mail in the paper application with a copy of your passport and other info as part of the patriot act.
If they are not willing to pay for it ask them to deduct if from your pay pretax if they can, so that you are paying for it before tax. They can then pay the lawyer.

Wife applied in 2002 about a year after I did so I guess it will take her at least another year to get approved. Seems they process the cases separately...
A few yesterday
I got approved yesterday - I had seen the status change nearly real time for the RFE issue, so used to check the status every 1/2 hour or so for the last month and half. It was a painful wait.

The lawyers are ok types but they have a paralegal who is pretty efficient. I usually get in touch with her for most of the stuff. Its 500 bucks for RFE.
