I wish it was the case, we would be living in a much better world...:D
But unfortunately it's not about the truth, it's about what you can prove. And in this situation the burden of proof is on us. I doubt a narration of family discussions will be admitted as a convincing evidences, so what...
Thanks, Triple Citizen!
Could you elaborate a bit regarding the possibility to have to defend the AOS route? What kind of objections/accusations can we face, what arguments for our choice can we use?
Thanks again!
I realize this question most likely was discussed here for a zillion times, but mistakes in dealing with USCIS are very costly, so I would really appreciate if someone would bother to answer it one more time...
My wife and I have our oath ceremony scheduled in a couple of weeks. After that we...
By far reentry on AP was the worst immigration-related experience of my 7 years in the US... We had to do it only once, thanks God. They hold my wife, our 1 year-old son (who is US citizen) and myself for 4 or 5 hours, despite the fact that our documents were in perfect order. The port of entry...
I've been asked this question while swithing jobs under AC21. The answer I gave was: "It's like a driver license - when the experiation date nears, I just renew it by mail." Works like a charm. :D
May I give my 2 cents? When you are swithcing jobs using AC21, a potential employer is on a "need...
In my case it took ~3 months, but it was more than a year ago.
Regarding whether or not the company will know about the FOIA request - I highly doubt it, but I have no proof to support my view.
If I am not mistaken there was a letter, similar to those I received after submitting AR-11 form. It had no receipt number, just an acknowledgement they receive the request.
My wife and I got our greencards few months ago. Couple of months back I've got an email and then a second welcome letter for my wife. I've been a bit nervous about this, since she was out of the US for that moment. (And we all know how damaging USCIS screw-ups may be...) But she returned to the...
Just want to share some good news and cheer up those who are still waiting.
Few days ago a friend of mine got so long-awaited I-140 approval email. So he went to a grocery store for some wine to celebrate. When he came back home there was another email - I-485 approval!
I don't know...
If it's only a draft dodging - USCIS doesn't give a rat's ass. A desertion from an active service is an exotic case, you better off asking a good attorney about it. I personally know a guy who was an officer, defected to a "likely adversary" country and then came to the US, got a Greencard and...
Lighten up, man. :) I've spent six years jumping through hoops for GC, started the process three times from the scratch, wrote hunderds and read thousands dead serious posts. So I think it's OK to post a flippant message once in a while.
If someone managed to lose the GC in the confined space of the airplane - this person should be stripped of the permanent resident status and immediately deported. Just for preserving the nation's gene pool from idiocy pollutuion.
Don't worry, that means USCIS is working hard on your card. :) The same happened to our cases after approval and passports stamping. Few LUD changes, then messages about cards being sent. We got our cards - my wife's card in 3 weeks and mine in 2 months (just yesterday). :D
Does not look like approval. I got the same message after USCIS sent me a change of address confirmation. Have you called them recently with change of address request?
Mail with "Return Service Requested" never forwarded.

Ditto here. Programmer Analyst title in LC, accepted new job as a Software Engineer, submitted AC-21 paperwork with the new title and very similar job description in the EVL. Got approved without any further questions.
I filed AC21 myself, got approved without any problems. If your case does not have any complications, you can do it too. I am sure you can find a better use for those few hundred bucks lawyers would charge you for filing.
