A stupid question: Can we DIY AC21 without lawyer?

sorry a quick stupid question over here:

If I am going to leave company using AC21, company's lawyer will send a letter to INS to say "XXX is leaving and we are not represent him/her, blah, blah,...". In this case, how INS processing this person's green card? Other words, can we DIY AC21 with INS? Does INS require a lawyer to handle I485 and AC21 doc?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, you can send AC 21 by yourself. did your 485 file over 180 days? if you do and your I140 approved, then you will be fine. I don't think INS require a lawyer to handle 485/ac 21...

I filed AC21 myself, got approved without any problems. If your case does not have any complications, you can do it too. I am sure you can find a better use for those few hundred bucks lawyers would charge you for filing.

------USCIS does NOT say that you use lawyer, you can file any application directly to USCIS, one use the lawyer becase they know the law and immigration law keep on changing

This is indeed a very smart question :).
Look at the sticky at the top of AC21 forum. You will find all the required templates as well as list of documents required.

Best of luck
