You R Good You Are fine with AOS pending (485 - pending). WHen a person is awaiting his / her 485 case.. till a decision is made on the case you are in perfect legal status in USA. Just carry your past history along.. just in case they want to have a look.. Good lUck..

AOS PENDING.. My attorney had filled in AOS pending when I was renewing my EAD/AP. I was/am not laid off. So, I can't answer for your specific case but: I bet you do not want them(INS) to know that you are laid off at this time. So, just write AOS pending and keep your fingers crossed.
