I think as long as it is filed while your PD is current, retrogression does not affect your application

from what ur saying, i think u r implying that it may be best to apply for the EAD yourself with assitance from employer and company attorney so that you can use it in emergencies and that way it has no impact on h1 extensions whatsoever

but one has to ask.. what exactly is EADs impact on H1B.. one indirect impact I can think of is that the emplyer will know that you have EAD and so will refuse to extend H1 as they will consider it a waste of money, so now you will be on your own to keep extending EAD whereas before the employer...

but EAD is sponsored by employer right? so without employment there is no EAD or H1 renewal and then when the EAD or H1 expirer, the I485 applicant becomes invalid

i see but if one doesn't find another company to extend the h1b then the i485 is pretty much irrelevant and nulled because one becomes out of status.. so it is very important that the employer does not lay you off
