nothing to worry, It happened to my Old 140 ( In fact they have approved the same I 140 twice with 6 months gap). this happened when I applied for new EAD and AP. they probably dig out all the old 140s for approval of EAD

Oh Yes... U may be very correct, They told me 3 times that My FBI check was cleared..then suddenly send me a letter that it is pending, Looks like Most of the May-Aug 2006 FBI name checks have been lost!!! Just be ready for spending few Hundred $$$s for EAD/AP for next 2-3 years

same here, They told me 3 times on phone that my name check/background check is clear (3 times in one year), and then I get a letter in June that it is stuck up in Background check. Now I will believe them only when the card shows up - until then X my fingers

U can file EAD whenever U want to, as long as U maintain Yr legal status. But once U use EAD U can not go back to H1B status.
