Just thought I would update.
We had our interview Nov 1, 2007. Everything updated except the 485. Wife went for info pass 1st week of Dec. Name check stuck, but redid finger prints while there. With no rhyme or reason, the website showed the mailed notice blurb on Feb 14, 2008. I think we filed...
question
Hi all-
Well my wife and I are in the NC boat too, only since Nov 07 though. Couple of questions.
Our I-130 was approved on day of interview. I have noticed that some people have had to have a second interview. I presume it serves the purpose of the first interview. Will we be likely...
Yes. We ended up with a worthless one whom completely botched a J2 waiver to the point we were considering sending my wife back fro 2 years. Luckily i found an outstanding attorney (whom the first knew) who fixed the problem in a matter of weeks. Always listen to your nagging voice that...
OK. So my wife did the info pass and the name check is indeed the hold up. Also the officer order a finger print (which she did while there). Like her fingers suddenly morphed.
So to all those whom said the officer would not say the green card is approved while name check is pending, let...
Not yet. Scheduled for th 17th. I also sent a letter to the officer, but I have not heard anything yet. I will update after the info pass and/or the officer replies.
Thanks for the comments. I think it is well possible for the office to have said approved even with the name check pending, after all this is the government.
Again all this will be boiled down when my wife goes for the info pass. She is just all stressed about traveling back since there is...
while i would agree with you on that, these people are not infallible. I read of such an example where this occurred while digging through the name check posts.
Any other comments?
Interview good, but still pending -- Travel w/AP w/o I-94
Hi All-
Have a couple of questions. My wife and I did the whole interview thing and it went well. Officer said “I am going to go ahead and approve it, should have card in 3-4 weeks”. The interview was on Oct 31 in Phoenix, Az. So here...
Not the case. We actually went to our interview today and was denied an interview. The officer said we needed to use my wife's address. Our lawyer was confused, yet again. So I am looking for someone whom is actually had this situation and had success.
Thanks
Hi All-
My wife and I are living in two different cities due to school and work (different immigration districts as well). I am the USC. My question revolves around the I-485 and I-130 application. Which address should we be using. Do we use my address on both of the forms, one on each, or my...
Just seeking an opinion on whether to have a lawyer present at the interview. Our case was not 'normal'. My wife went for J2, to F1, to H1B. She had a previous marriage and we are in two different cites (school related). What do those of you that have been through the process think?
Thanks!
Update- received the I-797
Just an update. We already received our I-797.
The receipt date is April 12, 2007 and the notice date is April 24, 2007. This was much faster than we thought!
Finally! Now I hope the greencard process is much easier than this was!
I hope you all find this...
Well it was that I had to convince them, I think it is there role in a J2 situation like ours. To paraphrase from my lawyers initial consultation:
"....Where a J-2 cannot obtain a waiver due to certain special circumstances, of which the State Department currently recognizes only three...
Greetings everyone-
I wanted to share my story in hopes to help someone else out, so that they will not have to go through the frustration we did.
Some background. I am a US citizen and my wife is from mainland china. She entered the US on a J-2. She later changed to F1 to do some studies...
Hi Lucymo-
Actually from what the lawyer told me, the J2 waiver is very specific. The interested government agaency will be the State department. I was told this is really the only 'correct' path to accomplish this.
And no the J-1 did not get waiver, he is back in China.
I will post...
Propper and Impropper J-2 waiver method and missing IAP-66 forms
Hello Everyone-
I wanted to provide some info as it might help those in need. My situation is as follows.
My wife is from China. She came in on a J-2 Visa, later switched to F-1 to go to grad school (that’s how we met). She...
Hi-
If a J1 sevres the 2 years of HRR, does the J2 have to serve the 2 years? What about if the J2 divorces the J1 after the 2 years are served?
THANKS!
Good points
All good points. I have asked my wife to obtain a copy of the H1 application from her company, hopefully they will release it.
To my knowledge the J1 has fulfilled the two years, before the divorce. The question is whether this will alleviate her from the waiver process.
Thanks...
