I think you misunderstood my response....so please let me clarify. I did stated that your friend's son is the one that is the LPR and not her husband. :)
Please take a look at this information. It should shed more light on his ability to adopt the boy and then the boy to become a US citizen...
Your friend's husband can legally adopt her son (as he is in the USA as an LPR) and then after the adoption is completed, the parents can apply to INS for a certificate of citizenship and go through the naturalization process for their son to become a US citizen.

I can understand where Maduraikaran is coming from.
My suggestion...why not continue to work and stay in the US and in the meantime, just go back to India for vacation to visit your parents. In the meantime while you are waiting to become a US citizen, maybe you can have some relatives look...

As for oath on the same day at San Jose DO, they do not do...
You should be able to go back to Canada and finish school.
However, before you do, it would be a good idea to get a reentry permit done so that you don't lose your permanent resident status.
Good luck! :)
If you click on the URL and read the information from that page that I posted in my previous post, it states the following:
During the trial period, volunteer applicants who choose to take the pilot test can immediately take the current test if they incorrectly answer a pilot question. To pass...
Here is some information on the new pilot test. Only certain district offices are testing this so depending on what your DO is, it might still be the old test. Then, the CD that you got is more than enough to get you through the civics test.
Q. What will USCIS pilot?
A. USCIS plans to pilot...
Hi Mayger..here is the URL to do a name change in San Jose CA.
Not only does it take quite a bit of money...it seems like it might take a couple of months to get it done. Then, you have to get a new naturalization cert with your new name....this cost more money and if you already got your US...

Congrats on getting your oath letter.
Basically, fill in the back of the oath letter on the day of the oath and bring the things asked that pertain to you. If something doesn't pertain (like the re-entry permit), then disregard it.
I think you should be alright but USCIS does have final say so of whether to approve the case or not.
I think it's normal procedure for the IO to talk to their supervisor to ensure that he/she didn't overlook anything and that everything is in order.
Wish you the best :)
Bit boring is an understatement CrossHairs hahahaha :D
I think it's faster to just read the instruction booklet and go from there. The N400 really isn't very difficult to fill in once one has gone through the instructions.
It's strange that they are doing that now (ie. sending the passport and naturalization cert separately) since I got both the passport and naturalization cert together in the same mailing envelope.
You might want to make an Infopass appointment and talk to an Immigration Officer about your case.
Not sure how much information they will give you but it's worth a try.
Good luck! :)
Yes, you can travel while you wait for your interview.
Just make sure that during the interview, you let the Immigration offier know that you have some changes to make to the travel section.
You can print out the amended page and take it with you to the interview to give to the IO.

I didn't have to show my social security card to anyone at the oath ceremony. The only things that I had to show was my passport and oath letter before going into the venue and then once inside, that is when the Immigration Officer took my green card (and any re-entry permits if you have one).
Here are several links that pertain to the new naturalization test questions.

Hey nurulz...here's the proof that states why San Jose DO doesn't do Name Changes during N400 processing.
Q. Why can’t I change my name during the citizenship process?
A. The U.S. Northern California District Court previously presided over the naturalization of new citizens in the San Jose...
Take it from first hand experience.....you don't have to change your name in your current passport.
When I still had my Green Card, it was in my married name and my passport had my maiden name.
When I would travel internationally, I always booked my ticket using my maiden name so that it...
