I received my green card back in September 2007 but somehow I have my EAD that runs till Aug 2008.
BUt recently I lost EAD somewhere in the house. Does it matter? Do I have to report the the USCIS eventhough I have my GC already and it's set to expired in 4 months. I lost it in my house...
same with me last year..we have our interview in and out within 5min. She took my I94 out the passport but did not stamp it. She said wait for decision. That afternoon itself, i have the approval on my application.

ONce upon receipt you can work for company B. There is some cost for transfering h1b visa. I am not sure...check on USGIS for fee + cost for using lawyer or not
I would definately transfer your h1b from company 1 to 2 without subject to quota. You can basically work once they (company 2) received the receipt from INS. While the whole transfer, you should also apply for EAD too.

One thing that really help you is ask the bank to transfer the title of the car name from her dad to yours....It will help your credits if you do that..or else her dad will get it all..

why would you do it? I mean the company hired you in the 1st place, at least work for them for a 6months ++ ...jumping ship prior working for them..basically using them as sponsorship..just give h1b visa holder a bad name..that my 2cents
no i mean is on my last year on my h1b visa. I am have everything else approved prior to this transfer. I will fill gc after i start working need $ . I first enter the country using F1 visa. Then i been in the country from F1, OPT, then H1b. Have not left the country yet

I am in the process of transfering my h1b visa from company a to b. After the transfer, if it go thru smoothly, i will apply for GC thru marriage since i am married to an USC since 7/2005...
So, from what you say, let say the company b file the h1b transfer for me tomorrow, i will continue work for company a until i get the receipt. Once i/they (company b ) received the receipt, i then can start with company b anytime after that right? correct me if i am wrong pls :)

SO Option A
1) transfer h1b visa (even with 1 year 2-3 months left)
2) The transfer takes about 2 weeks, and i can work upon receipt
3) Do the GC application during that time
Option b
1) Apply the gc application , adjustment status
2) EAD - might take forever? a couple months ..that will...
Thanks for a quick reply. From what you say, the fastest way right now is ..transfer my h1b visa (1year3 months left) to the new company, and then apply my gc thru marriage. if i am not mistaken, the transfer normallytakes about 2 weeks and i can work with them immediately upon notice of receipt...
