6 years total on any H status
So you will NOT be able to go on to an H4 status after your six year H1 expires. But with the new laws regarding 7th year extension you have ample time left on your H1 (you just need to get your labor done and I140 filed before your six year limit).
Just got my 7th year extension approval in the mail. The AVM has not been updated yet.

I applied for 7th year extension based on I140 pending and more than 365 days since labor was applied (PD April 2000). My H1 six year...
Revalidation itself is taking about 2-3 months right now...
So, if you are planning on visiting India in the next couple of months, then you may not have enough time to get it revalidated.
Why are you wanting to revalidate now anyway?
Even if your visa stamp expires, you are in status as long as your I94 is current. You need the visa stamp only for re-entry. If you revalidate your visa now, you will have to get a new H1 stamp in your passport anyway when you are planning on...
My H1 extension application was mailed in late October (ND 10/24), have not heard anything yet.
Anyone who has applied within the past 2-3 months and got approval?
Thanks.
You don\'t need Police Certificate for H1...
Note that it says all IMMIGRANT petitions. Since H1 is a non immigrant petition, police certificate is not required.
About minimum income requirements, they may be referring to sponsors for visitor visas. For H1, carry recent paystubs, W2, letter...
You are correct, you do NOT need a new visa stamp
Just show your latest approval notice at POE and you should get an I94 date based on the new approval.
You will need a new visa for travel if old one has expired...
Unless you are visiting Canada/Mexico and returning within 30 days, a valid visa is required to come back to US. If the old visa with the previous company is has not expired, you can travel on it and get I94 date based on the new H1...
They can continue as long as the I-94 is valid
If the old I-94 is still valid (i.e. your previous H1 has not expired), then it is fine. However, it is better to keep the H1 and H4 in sync just to be on the safe side so that you don\'t forget to apply for the H4 extension before it expires...
You don\'t need to refile...
Just carry a letter on your company letterhead indicating that the name was changed and you should be fine.
My previous company had gone through a name change and the lawyer told me there was no need to refile as long as the tax id of the company has not changed.
Take all H1 related paperwork...
If possible, get an attorney certified copy of the entire H1 application (including LCA). Better to be on safe side :-)
Also take latest paystubs, W2 forms and a letter from the employer stating that you work there and what your job title and salary is...
Fast track takes 2 weeks to process
If you apply now using regular processing, you may or may not get the H1 approval by Feb. Applying in fast track would take about 2-3 weeks for approval. I have seen approvals posted on this forum taking less than a week!!
If your visa has expired, you...

There is a separate thread for revalidation of visa at St. Louis. I believe it is taking 2-3 months at present.
