Hi,
This is the info. regarding getting the visa stamp at consulates in India which i read on one of the immigration web sites which is as follows:
ALL immigrant visa applicants over the age of 16 must present Indian police certificates
(one from the applicant\'s local police station, and one from the applicant\'s regional passport office);
Applicants will not be permitted to carry sealed envelopes into the consulate, except
for the medical report from the panel physician (which is required to remain sealed); and
Applicants must bring clear evidence of their financial support in the U.S.
(No exceptions are expected to be made regarding sponsors\' minimum income requirements.)
Since requirements are subject to change, we highly recommend calling
ahead before visiting your consulate in the hope of obtaining an immigrant or non-immigrant visa.
I would be travelling to India in Apr end or May 1st week. My current visa expires Mar1,2002. So when i go there, i have to get my visa stamped to come back. I would be going to the Mumbai consulate to get my stamping done for my H1. I also have to get my spouse\'s H4 done from Chennai.
I have the following questions regarding the same:
1] Is police verification required only for fresh h1\'s i.e first timers
who are going for their H1\'s? I would have been in U.S for close to 3 yrs when i go around that time for stamping and this is my h1 renewal stamp.
would i also require police verification?
What kind of cerificate is required from the police station and one from
the passport office?
2] What kind of clear financial support are they expecting for the stay in U.S.? are they expecting bank statements? are they expecting pay stubs or letter from employer stating the income one has?
What is meant by no exceptions would be made regarding the sponsor\'s minimum income requirements? Can anyone pls elaborate on that?
I never heard of any minimum income requirement for visa stamping. It is checked during the h1 approval and when INS approves the petition based on all the documents and evidence provided , why should the U.S consulate have any objections/problems.
Plus the minimum wage requirement is for the LCA which gets filed before the H1. once LCA is approved, then the H1 gets approved. if that is all taken care off by INS, what does the consulate ask for? Does anybody has anymore suggestions?
UR early inputs are highly appreciated
Awaiting ur reply
A.S.
