Documents needed while entering US

Hi there,
First, a little thank you for your awesome website. It provides respite to so many of us indians.... :)

I am going to visit India on H-1B for about 3 weeks in another 2 weeks time. What all documents should I carry with me, so that I do not have any problems at the port of entry while returning to United States ???

Last time, the INS officer questioned me. He did let me enter, but he wanted to see the Labour Papers to figure out what area was I authorized to work in? ???

So please let me know, so that I do not have problems entering the country...

Thanks

Sincerely

Take all H1 related paperwork...

If possible, get an attorney certified copy of the entire H1 application (including LCA). Better to be on safe side :)

Also take latest paystubs, W2 forms and a letter from the employer stating that you work there and what your job title and salary is.

Hope this helps.

experience from my recent visit..

I cam back from India just last week. I had been there for 2 weeks. I had taken:
(1) attorney certified copies of my entire H1B application including the LCA filing.
(2) an employment authorization letter from the company, all my paystubs (maybe only last 4 are required)
(3) Original 797 approval
(4) All previous 797 originals

The funny part is that when I returned, they did not ask for anything other the visa stamp on my passport. I was expecting them to ask for a lot of papers.

hope this helps..

attorney certified documents?

I keep reading about all these ATTORNEY CERTIFIED COPIES of H1 documents and I am very curious how do they look like?
I got my H1 package as well (from my attorney) and there\'s nothing in particular on them (certificating, stamp etc.) and when I asked my attorney I was told that these are certified!

Could anybody tell me what\'s the secret? Please?!

Thanx!

Shony
