I know the UK is extremely restrictive as to who can get an ILR (UK Green Card). You really have to prove that there will be hardship (financial and physical, not emotional) if they don't come to live with you in the UK, rather than just proving relationship.
Its all to do with the sense of entitlement people have around here that the US government should allow their entire extended family to emmigrate with them.
Somebody call the Waaaaaambulance.
The problem is not the language, but the truth of the statement. Nowhere have I read that family immigration is "eliminated", but simply that the priorities of immigration will change. Having to wait longer is not the same as having it eliminated.
It takes about 90 days. Stop calling/listening to the USCIS misinformation hotline!!! They have no idea what they are talking about, especially when asking about processing times, they always over exaggerate!!
Also they don't give out interim EADs any more, if its been more than 90 days, you...
Actually there is.
You can get what is called an "Emergency Advance Parole" which is issued at Infopass appointment. However they generally only give these out for extreme circumstances, such as the death of a relative.
Needing to go on a business trip is not such a circumstance I'm afraid...
This is not true. The people on the customer service line often have very little information. Your best bet is always to make an Infopass appointment. I suggest you do so.
Have you made an infopass appointment to go enquire about the status of your case? The USCIS hotline is useless, if you really want to know about your case, make the infopass at the office you were interviewed at and ask them.
Also what does your online status say.
At a guess you are stuck in...
You're reading a lot between the lines here I think. The emphasis will change is the only thing I see, from what I hear they will re-prioritise visas to smart people rather than people's brothers and sisters. Although that might mean a longer wait, I don't see anything saying that that all...
Things may appear to be moving fast, but that just means that FBI namecheck is even more likely not to be cleared when you have your interview. If you are stuck in FBI namecheck, you'll be glad to have that AP/EAD.
Yes, that was the only link I could find that had any relevance. Still it does not say they're scrapping familiy immigration, simply that there's an idea to give priority to smart people. Not a bad idea IMHO, but still a far cry from the idea that they're going to "scrap family immigration"...
