    Married But Filing Separately!!!!

Married Filing Jointly and Married Filing Separately are both acceptable filing methods for a married couple. The difference is purely based on tax planning, and has nothing to do with married status. However some married couples have been caught out when one partner filed as Head of Household...

    Order Of Protection And Naturalization

I'm glad it seems to have worked OK for you this time, but I will point out my post #10 above both for your possible future benefit and for any others who find themselves in similar circumstances. If the other party in a dispute has retained an attorney, then whether you like it or not you...

Suggestion to moderators - why not put "City Threads" in separate "folder"?

Makes you hope that someone somewhere is backing up the forum database on a semi-regular basis, as disks do not last for ever.

filing for naturalization: Attorney or self?

blkhawk...Many (most?) people on here filed themselves with help from the forum. If you read back in the history there are many useful posts that answer most questions. An attorney is generally only needed if you have a complex case. Look at the N400 application form and count up how many of the...

    Order Of Protection And Naturalization

You urgently need a really good divorce attorney. It sounds like your wife's attorney is playing hardball with those orders. DO NOT UNDER-ESTIMATE THIS! Also at this point do NOT accept what your wife is telling you, since she might by lying about the order, or not understand exactly what her...

    Jury duty?!

I think the answer is state or even county dependent. We've had to do the same, and I think I just had to phone up and tell them, or maybe post it back as a non-citizen. In our case we did not need to return copies of any documents.

Additional set of 2x2 Photos for the Interview

The reason for bringing the 2 extra photos is that sometimes the service center loose the ones you submitted, and without photo's at interview your application will be held over. What are the chances of this happening? Probably not a lot, but do you want to risk another delay? I'd say take the...

Kansas City MO - N-400 Timeline

There is only one DO in Kansas City to serve both sides of the stateline, and that DO is physically located in Kansas City, MO. However I think, but am not 100% certain, that when it comes to Oaths you will take your Oath in your state of residence. Hence the time delay between interview and...

Kansas City MO - N-400 Timeline

Ouch Lexa007...that is quite a wait. I'll post back here anything I find out, but I'm waiting for 90 days, which is May 6. Since you are 4 hours drive away you could try calling the office and speaking with your interviewing officer. You might be able to get to them via the directory. Or call...

Kansas City MO - N-400 Timeline

It looks like Kansas City DO is in a time warp. The April 15 processing times update shows the office is now completing the June 25, 2007 applications. The March 15 update had them completing the June 30 applications! This is not a good sign, and explains why I'm still waiting for an oath letter.

International Travel between Interview and Oath?

I agree with AtlantaBrother. Do not turn down the same day Oath if you get a chance. My DO does not do same day Oath's and nearly 10 weeks later I'm still waiting for the Oath letter. Take the Oath and get the expedited passport.

International Travel between Interview and Oath?

Does your district office perform same day Oaths? Because if they do, and you pass the interview, you will take the Oath on the same day and loose your GC. The solution to that is to make an appointment at an actual passport office once you are a citizen, travel to the passport office, and hand...

Traffic tickets and naturalization (threads merged)

I do not agree with this statement. In the moral character questions N400 asks have you "ever" done that act, and the table allows you to enter "country". The implication is have you ever done that act in any country at any time. Since lying on N400 can cause your application to be denied, or...

US Districs Courts - official Oath schedules and locations

I called the US District Court of Kansas in Kansas City. They schedule one oath ceremony every month, typically on the last Friday of each month although the exact date sometimes varies. Upcoming dates are: April 25th, May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th. Apparently they have been very...

Currently the questions are from the old multi-choice test until September (October?) but in my interview the questions were asked verbally and you had to supply the answer. It was not multi-choice.

Naturalization Interviews to be Conducted on Saturdays,Sundays & After Hrs weekdays

Thanks nyc_naturalizer. Actually looking at your timeline and a few others in this thread makes me think I didn't have it too bad. I was 1 month from posting to fingerprint, with the delay in name check and interview. Overall this seems a very frustrating and opaque process. I'll be glad when I...

Naturalization Interviews to be Conducted on Saturdays,Sundays & After Hrs weekdays

While that is great news for many of you, I would think that would just push the bottleneck into the post-interview period eg oath scheduling and oath ceremonies. It took us 29 weeks to get the interview, and we've now been waiting 6 weeks since then with no sign of any Oath letter (Kansas...

    Bankruptcy and N-400
