What do you sign at the end of Asylum interview?

Thanks. This sounds like they have new I-589 procedures nowdays. My decisings (the preliminary and the final approvals) were simply mailed to me at home address, together with I-94 card. I might have signed that "no interpreter needed" paper then. Anyone from year 2000 timeframe here...

What do you sign at the end of Asylum interview?

I remember signing two separate things at the end of my asylum interview: the I-589 application itself, and something else. That was in 2000. What would this second paper be? I wasn't even looking. Anyone remembers what they signed if 2nd paper was given to you for signing after the interview?

Granted asylum when to apply for citizenship

Yes, I saw. If it is the case where he was granted asylum (asylum letter dated) 2 days before his 26th, birthday, and it only arrived 3 business days later, he would be outside of the range. He would have no way of knowing USCIS had granted him asylum prior to receiving the letter. Maybe OP...

    NY timeline

I can't see (I'm reading this over my cell phone) but a "New York City Timeline" thead and another one called "Garden City, NY - timeline" must be on the 1st or 2nd pages of this forum. Check it out.

Granted asylum when to apply for citizenship

When you've received your SIL, and if indeed they determine from your evidence submitted that you did not need to register, send a photocopy of it together with your N-400 sometime in late September 2010. :)

Granted asylum when to apply for citizenship

*I-797 is the nice letter with reddish Lady Liberty's torch that you usually receive from the USCIS to notify you of action regarding an application or petition you have filed with them. Status extensions or status changes, grants are typically communicated to you on one of those.

Granted asylum when to apply for citizenship

BobArmani, Only the people who are in IMMIGRANT status (or undocumented) have to register with the Selective Service between their 18th birthday and the day they turn 26. I believe B1 and B2 and NON-IMMIGRANT statuses (statusi :)), i.e. tourist visas, so if you hald B1/B2 or M-1 or F-1 or...

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

That's what I'm thinking. It was already disclosed, and probably is lurking around in some other papers. Why would the A.O. not write it down on the I-589 app itself? While I was telling her about it I could see her jotting down stuff. Maybe it is indeed on a separate paper.

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

Yes, yes, I know. I'm just freaking out because I don't want to perjure myself :) plus I'm worrying about getting the overzealous IO who needs to fill his or her FAIL quota...

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

Btw, the GC process never involved any interviewsd, the GC simply arrived after 3.5 years. Besides, the "Have you ever been arrested..." question on the I-485 from the era has an important qualifier: "...for breaking or violating any law or ordinance" at the end, to which I wholeheartedly...

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

Well, it matters because of the "arrest" in COP (benign as it was), and the question on N-400 "Have you EVER been...blah blah". WTF do I tell them? "Yes", but no record in asylum paper even though I talked to A.O. about it 9 years ago? Or "no", which would be lying... which is not right. You...

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

OK, here comes weirdness. My FOIA request was indeed processed, and the requested photocopy of my asylum application is here. However, I can see in it that an event - an arrest followed by release without charges during a pro-democracy rally many years ago in my COP - which I was...

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

There's nothing at all I could really do but wait. As luck would have it, and as many an immigrant would surely agree with, the human I talked to is probably using the NRC number I gave her to punch it into that same website search I had used just minutes before calling her. :D

I filed a FOIA to USCIS re getting a copy of 1 application and a couple of notices of action

Strange: on 11/24/09, my request was down to 650-something out of 3040-something requests pending in Track One. Then the next day the message was: "You either entered an invalid Control Number or your case was processed more than six months ago". My request was not even submitted within "6...

    Interview Preparation

Here's what I am doing in preparation for the N-400 interview (the civiscs & government part): I downloaded all 100 civics & government mp3's from the USCIS site, pulled them into a playlist on RealPlayer, and now I'm listening to them all day at work, with earphones. :)

    Citizenship Question

If your card says "Permanent resident since: 02/25/2005", then it's best if you send your N-400 application on 12/01/2009. Open an Excel spreadsheet. In cell A1, type: "02/25/2010". In cell A2, type:"=A1-90". You will get 11/27/2009 as the result. Ad 4 days to compensate for possible...

    FP question

Thanks. Some previous (previous cases') FP notices didn't have this kind of provision. Those earlier ones had a box for me to check, with the specific alternative date, not a 3 month range. They also had a warning on them that rescheduling will cause delay in processing of the application...

    FP question

I got a FP notice for 11/13. It also says in it that I could come in any Wednesday until sometime in 2010 if I cannot make 11/13. Did anyone else receive this kind of info on their FP notices? Can I really not go for FPs on 11/13, and then show up on, say, 12/11 instead, and no problem?
