Asylees have to register if they are in that age bracket, and the OP was granted asylum before turning 26.

If it is the case where he was granted asylum (asylum letter dated) 2 days before his 26th, birthday, and it only arrived 3 business days later, he would be outside of the range. He would have no way of knowing USCIS had granted him asylum prior to receiving the letter. Maybe OP could clarify?
