Never heard of this. GC is a privilege. Just imagine the hassle you will have to go through again if you give up your GC, get onto a H1 and then wait to get your GC again(unless you're marrying a US citizen).

Its advised that the person spends more time in the home coutnry(or outside the US) in a calendar year, than in the US. More time spent in the US will attract questions during future visits.
you should tell the truth
you should not have given false information in the first place. i'm not sure what any lawyer would recommend in this case. what if they have made a note that the officer called up Florida in the past, and did not find you there?
