1) for his immigrant visa you will need to submit I-864
3) check reciprocity tables for Costa Rica at www.travel.state.gov. If Costa Rica's report shows unavailability, you don't need to get the police report. Otherwise, there will be instructions on how to obtain police records.
4) I don't...
do you mean that he got an immigrant visa number or he adjusted his status to that of a permanent resident? until you tell us, we won't be able to help you.
In any case, USCIS would know. Suggest you give them a call or write to them.
help you with what? if you don't make enough money, either get a second job or a co-sponsor. If you don't want to do either, you can leave the States and live with your wife elsewhere, or stay in the US without your wife.
no, she didn't misread the letter. Lots of people on forums, whose PD is years and years from being current, report getting the same notice from USCIS stating that "you will be contacted within 90 days of this approval notice".... Which is not true, of course...
kwanlau,
you need to understand that your wife's status is a Permanent Resident. Not temporary...
She simply has a conditional green card, and that condition needs to be removed in 2011. If she applies for a visitor's visa, the consulate will revoke her GC.
I am still wondering what he meant by that. Didn't he know that crossing over with IR visa would give her a GC and that was, in fact, why people would get an immigrant visa to begin with?
A filed I-130 may also hurt his chances of renewing his F-1 visa, if he ever needs to do so. If the rules didn't change, he can enter Canada for upto 30 days and come back with his old I-94 without getting a new visa, but he needs to check on regulations with his International Student Center.
you can, but it will take 10-14 years until he can actually apply for adjustment of status. Until then he either has to maintain his non-immigrant status or leave the US.
