My father came this country in the late 80's and he came on a visa and eventually got his greencard. He was issued a greencard number but he somehow managed to lose his old passport and any proof of entry, he was never issued the greencard but he said he recieved a gc number my question is how could i go about to find if his greencard is still valid and if so would he still be able to get his even thou its been so long...

do you mean that he got an immigrant visa number or he adjusted his status to that of a permanent resident? until you tell us, we won't be able to help you.

In any case, USCIS would know. Suggest you give them a call or write to them.

Eventually = when? 1990? 2000? This year?

Did he interview for the green card inside or outside the US?

Who filed for him ... you? Your mother? His brother?
