Here's the rejection notice

Whats crazy is that although they did mention something about filing too early, most the notice is stating that we filed in the wrong fiscal year!
The whole notice doesn't really make any sense but I guess they might have used the wrong template.

Either way, these guys definitely don't know their own rules.

They didn't bother reading the cover letter but of course they had to open the medicals :mad:

The rejection is early filing related. They included a badly worded template rejection notice (a mish-mash reasoning).

We’ll be overnighting the package right back, hoping that this time a more knowledgeable officer reviews it and hoping that they’ll go by the delivery date regarding the July 2nd cuttoff for using the old version of the medical form.

I suppose it doesn’t hurt to try again before going through the hassle of redoing the medicals.

Following up on this^

I’m considering including my original 2023 IRS Tax Return Transcript (which reflects the error) along with evidence that I submitted Form 1040-X to amend it. This would include a copy of the 1040-X and either a filing confirmation or a mailing receipt.

Would this be a good approach?

Hello. I'm 2025AS00012xxx. I'm unable to download my irs Tax Return Transcript due to a TDS system error. In the meantime, I have all other evidence of financial support, adding irs tax compliance report and direct pay confirmations. Are those documents strong enough? Would an IRS account transcript or any other transcript be a valid alternative?

*I plan to call the irs tmrw, but just in case still doesn't work out.
 
I had my interview yesterday. I would describe it as polite and uneventful. Went through the usual sign-in process. After some pleasantries, IO asked for 4 things: current passport with F-1 stamp, old passport with J-1 visa stamp, most current university transcript, and original birth certificate. We went over a few yes/no questions. No other issues or complications were raised. She wrapped it up by indicating all she has to do is check for visa availability or something, and I should see an update in my USCIS account within 10 days. I take this as good news and am checking my account daily for any updates!

Those alternatives will not be deemed acceptable in place of the IRS Tax Transcript AFAIK.

I noticed that the wording on USCIS’s website regarding the I-693 edition date has been changed to the following:
01/20/25. If the civil surgeon signs your form on or before July 2, 2025, you must use the 03/09/23 or the 01/20/25 edition. If the civil surgeon signs your form July 3, 2025 or later, USCIS will accept only the 01/20/25 edition. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions.

This new wording seems quite clear that as long as the form was signed on or before July 2, 2025, USCIS will still accept the 03/09/23 edition, even if it’s submitted after July 3rd.

This definitely looks like good news for anyone who thought they would have to redo their medicals.

Oh, that's awesome! I was planning to get another form and spend some more money! Now I don't have to. I would probably never see the new wording. Thanks!

Starting July 2, 2025, USCIS will only accept form I-693 with the 01/20/2025. Check the bottom section of your form to see the edition date.

Hope you don't mind me circling back to this conversation.

Today (07/03/25), I noticed that USCIS quietly updated the wording to: "If the civil surgeon signs your form on or before July 2, 2025, you must use the 03/09/23 or the 01/20/25 edition. If the civil surgeon signs your form July 3, 2025 or later, USCIS will accept only the 01/20/25 edition."

and we know from Instructions for Form I-693 Page 1, Part 6:

"Submit your completed Form I-693 in the sealed envelope to USCIS. Form I-693 remains valid for two years from the date of the civil surgeon’s signature."

What’s your take on this? Does it mean my 03/09/23 edition, signed in June 2024 and never submitted before, is still valid for submission with my I-485 in August/September 2025?
 
I'm getting confused about the Lockbox location I should be using. Clearly DV-based filings are non-family based. The chart here would make sense: https://www.uscis.gov/uscis-lockbox-filing-locations-chart . So I'd need to send it to Elgin.

However, this page: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/all-for...register-permanent-residence-or-adjust-status directs me to this chart: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/all-for...ocations-chart-for-certain-family-based-forms . That means I'd need to send it to Chicago.

Is this a mistake on USCIS's end or do they just lump the DV-based filings to the family-based category?

You may also see the same address type in cover letter example (see the AOS Spreadsheet). The address (Attn AOS) corresponds with one of the addresses that I sent.

Ok. We wait and see. Hopefully folks will report back to the forum on their experience with using an earlier edition of the I-693 signed by their CS on or before July 2, 2025.
