Hi Guys,

Need some advise.

My dad currently resides in Dubai, UAE and I want him to immigrate to the US.

Do I need to file an I130 and I485 only? Are there any other forms that I need to file.

Any idea what the current timeline for processing. I have heard between 3-6 months.

Thanks

Ed

If you are now a naturalized citizen, you file an I-130 with USCIS. Additional steps will follow. Take it one step at a time.

You can only file I-130 + supporting documents now for your dad since he lives in Dubai. Once it is approved, USCIS will send it to the National Visa Center which then will route it to a US consulate in Dubai for visa interview and approval.

At some point the NVC will ask you to file an affidavit of support. If everything goes smoothly and USCIS does not issue a "request for evidence", your father can expect a visa interview in 6-9 months.

Make sure that you have your birth certificate with your father's name on it and your dad's marriage certificate with your dad's and mom's names on it.

Are you now a naturalized citizen? Only a USC age 21 or older is allowed to petition for a parent.
