WSJ: More people apply DV2012 at LAST DAY (Nov3) than First day (Oct5) !

OMG. this is absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand why some people think that one winning is less eligible than other based on the date they filed. WE DIDN'T CHOOSE IT!!! it was the computer who did the choosing. on purpose or not, it's the fact.
And yes, article says nothing about how many people applied in the first day, it doesn't mean anythings. its an article!!! in a magazine!!!
And yes, i won. but i lost for 12 years. and i know the feeling. instead of being mean, just say CONGRANTS and move on. This is called to be a better person, not a bitter person.

well, if you do not win this year, you will have 13 years of losing streak :)
no wonder you are happy, hey everybody is protecting their own interest :)

the computer algorithm were program by a person. a person can make a mistake or an outside hacker can alter the algo.
KCC need to investigate this, not only for the interest of the 19 million people who do not win,

but for KCC's own interest.
you see, the next DV 2013, 19 million people will try to enter their data during the first few seconds of the registration opened.
that is not good for KCC's server :) they will crash...

so whether you like it or not, whether KCC like it or not, this is a potential problem.
the only way they can fixed this is if they fixed the flawed algo.

and you know what that mean :)

don't worry, a re run of selection process mean a re run for everybody.
you might still get selected again :)

We are experiencing technical difficulties at this time
In Excess, you see, DOS acknowledges they couple with you in experiencing those difficulties. They know about you and this is a statement about you both together.
:) hahaha

You dont get it right? It was random that they obviously took the first two days of October. So next time the days can be different or the same or they select winners that apply at a certain day at 5:12:13 pm or whatever.

But people would not want to take chances, and this time they will "most likely" try to apply during the first few seconds of the DV 2013 registration.
Taz, you had been here for many years, and I am sure you notice the past few years, the algo do not prefer "certain date".
only this year.
so this is an anomaly, and if they don't fixed it...

:)

:) hahaha

raevsky, are you one of those "conspiracy" theory lover ? hahaha

Dept of State, do not know me. They do not have time to know me and no reason to know me.
even if they know me, it is ok, I am 100% law abiding citizen :)
hahaha

but Dept of State do know they have flaw in the algorithm,
and if they don't do something about this,
next year, 19 million people will try to register during the first few seconds of DV2013 registration period.

do you know about the other "DOS" ? the one mean Denial of Service Attack ?
19 million entry within the first few second will be one of the highest ever Denial of Service attack :)

and it is not even an attack... it is just simply people trying to rush in when the gate/door is too small... :)
KCC and Dept. of State knew this.

You also knew this, but of course the current winner do not care about that :)

Why peoples always wait the last moment to do something they had 30 days to do?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704804504575606580971555998.html

The annual lottery creates a buzz across the developing world. Applicants from Kenya to Khazakstan brave lines at Internet kiosks to fill out electronic entries. In the final hours of the month-long enrollment period, which this year closed Nov. 3, entries were rolling in at the rate of 62,000 an hour.

On an article from The Respectable Wall Street Journal,
we know that on the last day of DV 2012 entry at November 3'2010,
the entries are coming at the rate of 62,000 PER HOUR,
meaning 62,000 x 24 hour = almost 1.5 million entries.

Read the article and you clearly feel from the tone of the article that the last day of the
DV 2012 entry was the most busiest day because many people scramble to enter
their DV entries at the last day.

This mean the theory that say most applicant enter on the first day is NOT True,
otherwise, the article will mention the rate per hour on the first day.

on article they want you to see the highest number to give the reader a sense of
how many people want to get green card.
and on this one they use the last day rate per hour statistic instead of the first day.

Unfortunately, most of those people (if not all) who enter on the last day were most likely not selected...

Imagine if 15 million applicant try to enter their data at DV 2013 on the first day of the application period this year...
there are high chance that the server will crash...

so that is why KCC allow 1 month period for people to enter their entries.

but if this year KCC decide to ignore the obvious problem that most people selected
were from Oct 5,... that mean they will have problem on the DV2013.

of course the current winner don't care about the problem on DV2013 because
they are only want to protect their current winning status.

but KCC surely know about this problem,
and they can not afford to have the entire world bombarded their server with application on the first day
(actually first few seconds) after DV 2013 registration open...

and it's great to see the "technical difficulties" were still there,
that mean KCC have much bigger problem than just some server error.

the current winner of DV 2012 worry they might be revoke and blame others who complaint as sore loser,
but if they do not win this year, I am sure they will feel cheated and raise their concern too :)

everybody is protecting their own interest, can't not blame them,
but they also can not blame other who do not win because the flaw in the algorithm. :p

If they dont fix it, we will see the same amount of winners in DV-2013.

the amount of winners will always be the same year after year after year. it would be around 100,000 people.
but on DV 2012 (and previous DV), people do not try to enter their data at the same time when DV Lottery just open.
in fact some people intentionally apply during the middle or at the last day of the lottery.

if they do not fixed it, DV Lottery will not a real lottery, but a First Come First Serve basis,
just like H-1B quotas.

the different is H-1B applicant is not that much... for sure not 19 million people.

19 million people ? that will surely crash KCC's computer.

plus, KCC do not need to open the data entry period for 30 days anymore.
they will only need to open it for few seconds and they will get more than 100,000 winner right away (that is if their server not crash first)...

Dept of State, do not know me. They do not have time to know me and no reason to know me.
They do not know you, they just know about you. Otherwise why would they refer to your joint impaired condition on their website?

OK, i'm done here. sorry Excess, you are ridiculous.
KCC is aware of everything, if they choose to do something, they will not report to you. So whether there will be 19mill people (actually, it's 14.5) on the first day or not shouldn't be your problem.
You obviously know nothing about losing with dignity. Might go and learn a bit while you are waiting.

Why peoples always wait the last moment to do something they had 30 days to do?

because KCC stated everybody had the same chance to be chosen no matter what date they choose :)

read this part:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1322.html

Overview

The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available up to 55,000 diversity visas (DVs) annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

They do not know you, they just know about you. Otherwise why would they refer to your joint impaired condition on their website?

personal attack do not make you win any debate :)

the fact is, KCC knew if they do not fix this issue, their server will crash once DV 2013 registration start.
19 million people will try to enter at the first few seconds,
nobody want to be left behind, since they now realized the algo prefer "early bird" :)

Yap KCC is aware of everything :) and I never ask them or expect them to report to me :)

yes there are 14.5 million main applicant but further 4.5 million derivatives are effected by this issue :)
plus do you think KCC server can handle 14.5 million people connecting and entering their data at the first few seconds of DV 2013 opening ? :)

this is not about me losing.
this is about flawed algorithm.
for you this is about protecting your own interest :)

and for KCC, this is about their operation problem (potential problem) on DV 2013 :)

No, In Excess, just concentrate. DOS clearly means they and you together. They referred to you both as We in their statement. See? Did you notice? Just think about it, concentrate on that. They are definitely watching your condition.

We ? well if that is the case, (assume you are right),
we here mean DOS, and the winner of DV 2012 and me (and 19 million other) who do not win because of flawed algo :)

actually DOS having problem will affect the current winner of DV 2012 more than the 19 million who do not win.

why,
because the 19 million people had nothing to lose at this point...

the winner of DV 2012 on the other hand... hahaha :)

In Excess, you definitely have progress now, right?

it does not matter whether I have progress or not. I had nothing to lose :)

what matter most is KCC need to fix this algorithm flaw and fix it publicly.

otherwise the 19 million people who do not win DV 2012 will try to register their data within the first few seconds
of DV 2013 opening. that will give an effect similar to the "DOS" not Dept. of State but Denial of Service attack (in mega scale). :)

everybody realized now that the flaw algo work mostly on First Come First Serve basis,
and if that is true, no need for KCC to have 30days data entry period :)

and by reading this statement:
We are experiencing technical difficulties at this time.
I can see that things are Progressing at KCC :)

I get it now, you are one of thoses sorry loseds that because they didn't win bring it on the algoritm ... guess what, if they were redrawing, we would have know long time ago... something is going on but don't dream, a redrawing is out of question... but if talking BS cheer you up then be our guess

First of all, nobody realized about this flawed Algo until few days ago :)

and have you check the website ?
they have a warning there :
We are experiencing technical difficulties at this time.
:)
