I-9 Form: Lawful PR or Alien authorized to work???

I married a US citizen several months ago and we have the adjustment of status interview scheduled on February 28th, 2011. I have a new employer who has offered me a position that starts during 2nd week of March, 2011. Obviously I'll want to present to the new employer my I-551 stamp for the I-9 form... if I have to submit I-9 before the interview, will I have to categorize myself as an alien authorized to work WITH my EAD? Or can I still categorize myself as a lawful permanent resident and submit my I-551 upon arrival on my first day of employment??? What should I do??
 
I can't recall being asked for an I-9 at an interview stage. Usually, I completed it at an orrientation session on my first day of work. Did they tell you to bring in the documents needed for the I-9 to the interview?

These days most people don't get an immediate approval with I-551 stamp at the interview. Without being officially approved (verbal approval is not official approval), you're not allowed to classify yourself as a permanent resident, and would have to show your EAD.

But as others mentioned, you don't have to fill out the I-9 before you start working, so it's possible you'll get the actual green card before you start working in March even if you don't get the I-551 at the interview.
