i130 application for spouse and kid in india

Hello,
I am a LPR - I have filed I130 for spouse and kid in India. We have a PD of Nov.29, 2010. I am assuming that since they are in India - all further communication by USCIS will be at the address provided in India ?
What is the next step ?

If you have your I-130 approval, NO further communication will come from USCIS. The State Department takes over.
 
All we have received so far is the I797c - notice of action. It also lists the USCIS office address as the Cal.Service Center.

Any idea as to how long it takes for the I130 approval ? Where can I follow up on this ? Also I am based in Michigan / Ohio - why was the application sent to California Service Center ?

Where did you you actually mail the I-130 to? Check CSC's processing time to estimate how long it will take them to approve the I-130.

The I-130 was mailed to the Chicago LockBox - as per the instructions. CSCs processing time as of Nov.30, 2010 is 5 months.

I hope it only takes 5 months. The Jan and Feb visa bulletin shows that times have retrogressed to 2008. So I'm not sure if the CSC processing time is the latest and updated. But I guess not to worry that it has been sent to CSC ?

Oh !...I see. Even though the I130 is approved it could take a further 3 years before the interview date. I thought the two were the same.

2nd question - I need not worry that it has been sent to CSC even though I'm based in MI ? The applicatio was sent to Chicago LockBox.

Service centers often distribute load between themselves from time to time, so do not worry about which service center sent you the NOA.
