IR processing times at CHENNAI-INDIA Consulate TRACKER

Finally I recd the Invoice number and NVC case number. I also paid the AOS fee bill online. Now I dont know how to get the DS 230 form online. can i print it online or should I wait for the letter to arrive in the mail. Can someone help me? Thanks

Once your AOS fee $88.00 Gets processed, You will be able to print a cover sheet. Your parent should sign the choise of agent form and send it to NVC.NVC will email you the Choise of agent form. Your parent has to sign it and send it to NVC along with the coversheet. Then you will get one more invoice for $404.00. then when the fee gets processed, then you will need to print DS230 Part A/B along with Ready ness form.

whats this $404.00 for ? i thought its just $88.00 for the AOS processing fee that we have to do, the rest like the visa issuing fee (paid at the consulate as a DD) the vfs and mailing charges.
correct me if i am wrong

My wife had the K3 visa interview today, they approved the visa, but unfortunately her passport was wet and ink had smeared, so they said she has to get a new passport and mail it to them so they can stamp/issue the visa and send it to the local vfs office. She asked abt the immigrant visa processing as we had the case number for the IR, the consulate guys said they dont have any information from the nvc so if they are helpless, had they had the case and was waiting for interview scheduling at the consulate they would have issued her an cr/ir-1

$404.00 is for Visa Application fee . It should be paid on line after you get an invoice fro NVC. Onece it is paid then you Fill DS 230 A/B and send it to NVC with Civil documents. All this is done when applying for parents. I dont know if it is the same for spouse.

on top of the $404.00 does the beneficiary have to pay visa fee at the consulate as "Demand Draft" ? as published in the following link ?

If you paid all the fee to NVC, you are all set. I think the only fee would be the courier fee which should be around Rs.350.00 at hdfc bank.

How to Pay
An applicant can pay any immigrant visa fee in Indian rupees by demand draft at the U.S. Consulate. We do not accept checks, traveler's checks, cash or credit cards. Demand drafts must be from a national or foreign bank with a Chennai branch (no cooperative banks are allowed), payable to "U.S. Consulate General, Chennai." Visa fees are not refundable.

A few tips:

Please write the applicant's name, case number and passport number on the back of the demand draft.
Courier Delivery Fees: Please pay courier charges Rs.387/- per applicant by cash at the VFS office.
If the applicant has paid a total immigrant visa fee of $400 at NVC prior to July 13, 2010, he or she will not be required to pay the higher fee even if the interview is not until after July 13, 2010.

Hi,
Well, I am confused now. I applied for my Dad. I paid I130 fee which was around $430.00, Aos fee which is $88.00 Immegrant visa fee $404.00 ( all are approximate amounts). Now i sent all the required documents to NVC and waiting for the interview letter. I got an email from NVC stating that they have got my AOS and are waiting for the immerant visa application form. and after they get the form , they will notify me in 20 working days about the out come. If i need to send more papers or if every thing is ok, they will send me interview letter.
I read on one website that we should submit all the copies of the documents which we submitted to NVC , to VFS in chennai ,india.
I dont understand why we should submit all the copies of the documents? Can any one please tell me what to do?
I thought when we get the interview letter ,it will have the list of all the documents which should be brought to the interview.
We only pay the Rs 385.00 (approximate) to VFS for them to send our passport back to us.
Please correct me if i am wrong.

i went ahead and paid the $ 88.00, that went down the drain. I was of the impression that after the $ 88.00 fee the rest of the fee was to be paid at the consulate on the interview date (my wife has a k3 issued, we were thinking if the interview date for immigrant visa is before april 5th, she shall attend the interview pay the fee and get the immigrant visa and come on that) had i known that the fee had to be paid at nvc i wouldnt have lost my $88.00

there is no point in crying over spilt milk. Do the nvc refund it, i havnt sent in the i864 to them as we are doing an AOS after enterig on a k3

I was thinking the same. I dont think we have to submit the documents twice, the consulate interview would be general questions about immigration i think, but will wait to hear from people who have done it already. I paid the 88$ and have all the papers ready for Affidavit of support will mail on monday.

i am decided to go forward with the issued k3, it was stupid of me for paying off the fee for affidavit of support, as its free of cost when its submitted when the candidate is here in the country. i am gonna write an email to state.gov requesting a refund. if i get it i'll get $88.00 else i aint gonna bother, if an email gets uu $88.00 why waste it huh ?

I just sent iv packet back to NVC, I read on some website that i have to submit all the documents again to VFS post at chennai agiain before the interview? It it true? Once you get the interview letter does it say what all documents to submit to VFS or should i submit all the documents again. Can any one please tell me the process.

hipaa- Your parents had the interview at chennai.
How was it?
what questions did they ask?
How long was it?
How was the experience at apollo for medical?
What all documents did you submit at VFC location in chennai?
If you dont mind can you please tell me?

we submit the documents at the VFS office, and they "scrutiny" they just look at it and they send it to the consulate, the fee is 390 rupees or something. even if it is advised to go through the vfs by submitting the documents there, we could still not submit anything at vfs and take it to the consulate when the person goes for the interview, but we have to still pay the 390 fee there ( i believe its the courier fee for sending the papers to the consulate and back with the stamped passport). once the vfs fee is paid at their office, they kinda put a sticker or something in the passport. the consulate people are supposed to review the documents ahead of the interview so the interview is shorter and easier.

as for the appolo hospital, i tried to make the appointment online, but it seems the online thing didnt go through even though i got the acknowledgement, i called them and they didnt have any record of my appointment. so over the phone the appointment was made. its relatively easy, we had like 10k in hand came upto 7.5k rupees.

good luck

Thank you very much for your information,
I will wait for the interview letter, Some one told me that the NVC will notify us in the letter if we need to bring any additional documents,or get originals for the interview. Most of the documnets i sent to NVC are all notarised. I sent the iv pacakt on 16th march, i read on the NVC letter that they will take 20 working days to send me the response once they recieve iv packet.
Did you lady get the interview done? How was it?
Good luck for both of you

as i am petitioning for k3 visa for my spouse, the process is alot shorter at nvc, they get the approved i129f and gives it a case number (MDR number) and sends it to the consulate (chennai for us), there is no Affidavit Of Support processing fee (i864) fee nor the choice of agent form or paying the visa fee. My beneficiary gets the interview appointment date by mail and info about medicals and how to take an appointment, the fee for the visa to be taken to the interview as a demand draft and directions to submit the papers at VFS and to pay the VFS fee. The K3 works a lil different even the Affidavit of support is different its i134 instead of i864 for immigrant visa.

Bigbull what is your status we haven't heard from you in a while, i have just paid
my application processing fee bill and also got a rfe on I 864 so sent in some additional documents.

Thanks for initiating the thread. I am in a similar boat - filed my I130 and waiting...

Three question for you.

First, regarding vaccination. What happens if one does not have all the vaccinations? Are they asked to take the shots at Apollo? What about dosages like Hepatitis A which require 2 shots? (Does one get one at Apollo and the other when one reaches the US)?

Second, can you list the steps that were involved and your timelines for Chennai (also your processing center).

Third, what is the choice of agent?

Thanks in advance!
