Check how many social security credits you have earned as if you earn more than I believe 42 in all your tax paying years, then you are exempt from having to provide an Affitavid of Support. But a lot of people don't know if you have goverment public assistants such as food stamps or TANF, then that exemption goes right out the door. Hope this helps!
 
I think it might be 50 credits. I had called the IRS about a year ago and they informed me that on your yearly statements that they send you with this info will not include your credits on the statement if you have already reached your limit. I told them I wanted something in writing proving that I had enough credits as my statements no longer state it. She said that when USICS checks into it, they will see and on your petition, it will be stated in your packet that you have that exemption.

TheRealCanadian is correct. It is the immigrant beneficiary who must have 40 SS credits to make the I-864 unnecessary, not the petitioner.

There are very specific rules for keeping a GC. Residency outside the US is one reason it can be terminated. You really do need to understand your responsibilities as a LPR..

Why do you need a green card for your wife, if you plan to leave the US for good? That's what we would like to know, because you are going to lose it in the a year or so, so why do you can that she get a green card?

help you with what? if you don't make enough money, either get a second job or a co-sponsor. If you don't want to do either, you can leave the States and live with your wife elsewhere, or stay in the US without your wife.

sure. Since you don't make enough money, you need to find a co-sponsor: a US citizen or resident who DOES make enough money for his family and yours, and is willing to sign an affidavit of support for your wife (for 10 years).

10 years is not the rule. The obligation of support ends only when the immigrant is no longer a permanent resident (due to naturalization, leaving the US, or death), or has accumulated 40 quarters of Social Security credits. That can happen much sooner or much later than 10 years, depending on the individual's circumstances.
