How long does it take to receive GC after entering US?

Does anyone know that If my father enteres on 05/30/2010 under IR5 category. How long does it take to receive actual GC?

On average, it should take 2 to 4 weeks.

My father came to US end of March and he is yet to get his card. Although it should come any day now since we got the "Approval Notice Sent" email. I have researched this topic and found that it can vary greatly - from 3 weeks to 3 months.

I thank you guys for the useful informayion.
I was told Welcome notice will arrive in 30 days and case number will be on that package.I am desperatly waiting for SS card and actual GC because without this 2 document we can not do anything. I hope we get it within 30 days.

What can't you do?

Tried to get Driver liscence, Open bank account, Applied for job and all was dead end, almost all of them asked for SS card and actual GC.
