Regional Passport Agency-Same day passport?

Does anyone know if you can get a same day passport at a regional passport agency--Los Angeles?

If you have to travel within 14 days with itenery?Thanks
 
Same day or next day is available at all regional passport centers if you show evidence of travel within 14 days.

Actually, this is not quite correct.
I have dealt with the Chicago passport agency, and there they process a passport application in 1-3 business days, depending on how soon one has to travel. A colleague of mine applied at the Chicago passport agency about 10 days before his trip and they issued his passport in 3 days. When I applied there, I had an appointment on a Friday and my trip was on Sunday, two days later. So they did issue me a passport the same day I had an appointment.
I am not sure if all the passport agencies use the same practice, but for the Chicago passport agency same day processing is not automatic.
