I tried to start this thread but got merged with another one by some system glitch.

Please share your experience so that ppl who are waiting for a long time can get some help. I have been waiting for over 100 days with no updates (got a notification – they are doing additional review), Please provide the reason of your delay if you know and some advice if you have any. Any strategy that worked for you?

Strategies that one can use which I’m aware of (please add more)

1. Contacting and writing letters to congressperson, senator, ombudsman, adjudicating officer, District Director, FBI Name Check. I was told by few lawyers that contacting these ppl might slow down the process.
2. Service request with USCIS and calling them
3. InfoPass Appt
4. Hiring an attorney and using AILA liaison
5. Finally, 1447b/Writ of Mandamus/Lawsuit

Reasons for delay or denial that I have seen:
1. FBI Background check
2. Name Check
3. Passport/Visa stamping issues
4. Marriage issues
5. DUI/DWI/Traffic violations

Thanks for the details. I will add everything I have been doing and trying for a faster response. You just had your interview, I have been waiting for over 100 days after interview, good luck!!

Thanks. I would add " Waiting for Court House ceremony schedule for Name change person," as a reason for the delay.

Write a letter to IO for delaying oath ceremony as per N652 notice (specified) IO name as given on N652 notice.

I am also waiting for 'courthouse' ceremony in Alexandria, VA. More than 120 days now.
My interview was on Dec 2 - I called USCIS on march 2 and opened a ticket, based on which they sent a letter saying "you are approved" and are in the Q for a courthouse ceremony. (aap Qatar mein hein :) )

About 80 days thus far. Different story each time.

1. Called 1-800 number a month after the interview: Grumpy guy says "Wait in line like everyone else..."
2. Called 1-800 number 6 weeks after the interview: Nice guy says "It is waiting for supervisory approval, we don't need any more information from you"
3. Called 1-800 number 8 weeks after the interview: Polite lady this time "I don't see any kind of approvals in the system. You really should do an Infopass". Okay.
4. Infopass 2 months after the interview: Very nice and polite guy says "Waiting for approval, no decision has been made. Come back after 90 days."
5. Called 1-800 number 10 weeks after the interview: Polite lady says: "Oh you really should raise a 'service request', it has been long now." Does that.
6. Within 2 days, reply received on service request: " Service records indicate that your case is pending review. If you have further questions, you may either call 1-800-375-5283 or log onto www....". Waste of postage.

No great rush, but it appears to me they are likely looking for a technicality to deny. Maybe I should be packing my bags. Maybe the land of the brave and free is now the land of bureaucrats. Maybe the real land of bureaucrats needs some fine folks like us to turn it into the land where the head is held high, and the mind is without fear. (Rabindranath's words, not mine).

topchi, Thanks for the post. I had the exact same experience with 800 number and have called numerous times in the last 105 days, and still waiting for this. What is your DO and can you guess what could have triggered this? I'm trying my best but both myself and my wife are stuck and they say the case is identical. What is your DO? My details are there in my signature and it seems its common in Baltimore and armin78 got his N400 approved exactly after 1 year from Baltimore.

gcdetails , as i told you on your other post, i was right , they are doing additional reviews. your case sounds alot like mine. i am pretty sure your fbi NC is not an issue otherwise you wouldn't get an interview. god knows what those additional reviews are for. It seems that Baltimore office put some cases under microscope. your best option is 1447b if you don't want to wait . good luck.

Yes, I will be eligible for 1447 in 15 days but the lawyers recommend that I should wait another 2 months so that we give them more time. Also, IO (2nd level) on the phone told me that they have requested some information from another agency on the same day as my interview (12/23/2009) and still waiting for the response. I tried my level best and requested several times at infopass if I could speak with the Supervisor or the officer who had my case, they didn't agree. They didn't give any response to the senator and congressman also (25 days passed)

There is absolutely no reason to give them an additional 2 months. In fact, it'll only amount to more lost time, particularly because the USCIS is not being cooperative when you inquire about the status of your case.

Hi

I went for my interview on Feb 01 2010, in Boston. My file was moved from California to Boston as i Moved for my New Job. The officer said that he will recomend my application for approval. But he said my finger prints will expire by May 2010 when the oath is scheduled in Boston. So he scheduled me for re finger printing for 16 Feb 2010. I did go for that. The officer at my interview told me that i need not come back, after they get the new finger prints ,i will get my oath letter in mail. He told me that it would take about 6 weeks for the process. It is 8 weeks now and i did not get any letter. I am kind of worried? what do i do? Pls advise me.

My interview was on 1/14/10. IO seemed to think everything was fine but I needed a supervisory approval because I didn't have the court disposition on the one citation I had. He said not to bother to provide it unless I was directed to, and thought the case would be approved without it. It's now about 60 business days later (80+ days total). I'm patient, but do wonder if I should request an infopass. Online status is stuck on Interview, and I haven't received any kind of a notice indicating further review.
