Out of curiosity, when an N-400 is sent to Lewisville TX it's then forwarded to Dallas. What office is it? Why are the applications sent there for processing? Does anyone know what holiday schedule this office follows, i.e. do they close on days other than Christmas and New Year?

USCIS Update: Change of Filing Location for Form N-400

WASHINGTON - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced revised addresses for applicants filing an Application for Naturalization (Form N-400) at USCIS Lockbox facilities in Phoenix and Dallas. This filing address change takes effect immediately.

Applicants who previously filed their applications at the Lewisville Post Office (P.O.) box will now file their applications at a P.O. Box in Dallas. See address below. In addition, the table below includes a change to the USCIS Phoenix Lockbox address. Starting immediately, applicants filing Form N-400 at the USCIS Dallas or Phoenix Lockbox must submit the application and all supporting documents and fees to the following addresses, based on where they live:

They changed initial processing centers..nothing to worry about.

USCIS uses a mail processing facility in Lewisville Texas (a suburb of Dallas about twenty miles out). Originally the mail-drop for this center was through the local Lewisville post office but they just recently changed it to the Dallas main post office. My guess is that the Lewisville post office just wasn't able to cope with the volume of mail they received for USCIS.

Thanks all for your response. I guess I didn't ask the question clearly. I was trying to get a sense of how the application flows from one office to another. If Lewisville/Dallas is a mailing processing faciliaty, then I guess they'd accept the mail, maybe enter your record in the system, and cash the check. Then what? Is the figerprint notice from this office as well? Will they keep the documentation throughout the process, or will they forward everything to your local office at some point?

After initial processing and FP , the application gets sent to NBC who schedules interview with DO. Once an interview date is available , NBC sends your case file to the local DO.
