Pending Asylum Result

Hi,
I applied for asylum in 2002, while every year i was on work permit and every year they were asking my biometrics. This year i applied for EAd in Feb and after 3 months they asked translation of my birth certificate which i sent and got work permit after 5 months. Now 2 weeks ago i recived a letter for biometrics which i gave 2 weeks ago and yesterday i recieved a letter to appear at asylum office in 2weeks on exact date and time. My case was pending with asylum officer and never went to immigration court in 7 years. Any guesses what my decision might be. I am very scared. Please kkep posted.

Pending asylum since 2002. This is so long time.
Did you receive any initial decsion for your asylum such as a recommended approval?
I have a feeling you will get the final approval soon after your interview.
 
Nothing, this is the first time they sent me any letter to appear for result in asylum office. My background is clean. Can you guess what it may be as they took my fingerprints only 2 weeks ago.

I have a feeling that they will give you the final approval letter.
Did you try to check your I-589 application status on the website.

If I-589 is already approved, the website will show the approval notice of your new employment authorization card (valid for 2 years).

If the site can't find your case, then don't get disapointed. It means it is still pending.
 
They do not give any number to check case status for asylum. Asylum applicants only have A# which you can not check case status. I got my EAd in july but now i am worried what my asylum application result would be after 7 years, which is due in 10 days. Do u have any guess from your experience.

Thanks for your quick replies. My question is have you seen/ heard cases of decision after 7 years and if yes what most of them get the result approval or denial. What is your feeling?

Just wanted to wish you look and pray that you get an approval,my interview is on December 3,i am so dame scared and nerves

The time a case is pending is not an idication of an outcome. When you apply for asylum you will have to undergo an interview, whether it takes 1 month or 15 years for it to happen. Your approval or denial depends on your interview, your case, your evidence, etc. It does not depend on the length of time your case has been pending for.


My mother had a pending asylum for over 10 years and never heard anything. She ended up adjusting after the the NACARA legislation was signed into law. I submitted my asylum case in June 2004 and didn't get my approval until October 2007.

I realize that it is nerve wracking to get these notices and not know what's going to happen. I, along with many others have been there. Just have faith that things will work out and prepare for your interview as best as you can.

Not sure if you're working with a lawyer, just trust him/her that they'll get you ready for it.

Scully51 my interview was done 7 years back. Now i recieved a letter to visit local asylum office for decision. So will they take my interview again.

Call the national number for the immigration court and enter your alien number to find out if they referred you to a court or no.
Also call the asylum office and ask the operator about your case. He/she might give a good news

The court# is 1800 8987180
If they decide to send you to court, they will start doing the paper work with the court before your appointment date. This is why you should call the court automated system. It is open 24 hrs.
If the court system has no record of your alien#, then there might be a good news

Well unfortunately, it is time to fight your case in front of the immigration judge. Master hearing is nothing to be afraid of. The immigration judge will ask you what you would like to do and when all your paperwork is in to your satisfaction, you will have an individual hearing with the Judge and the DHS attorney.
