I'm thinking of taking a trip to Europe in May, visiting several countries. My preliminary plan is to enter through Norway and work my way south, staying 2-3 days here and there. So I have a few questions:
1. As it states in the title, I don't have a GC, only RTD. Is it an issue when you apply for a Schengen visa? (I know about France, but I'm not going there anyway).
2. Many embassies' websites say that they don't recommend buying the plane tickets until the application is approved, but they still require confirmed flight information... How do you do that?
3. On the topic of plane tickets - I read somewhere that consulate officers are somewhat suspicious when they see one-way flights. My plan is to get a one-way ticket to Norway, and a one-way ticket from Germany back to the US. Will that present any problems? Or am I over-analyzing here?
4. It says that they need to see confirmed hotel reservations. My travel plans within Europe will probably change on a daily basis, so I'm not planning to make a whole lot of pre-arrangements, and mostly just go wherever the road takes me. How should I explain that to the consul?
5. What types of questions do they generally ask at the interview? This will be my first "real" visa interview, so I'm a bit nervous. I went to Egypt a few years ago, and they didn't care about anything, just told me to complete the application and pay the fee, no questions asked. I have a feeling that Schengen countries do a little bit more checking and asking.
I apologize if some of these questions have been answered in the past (possibly over and over
). I'm relatively new to this forum, so any advise and personal experience will be much appreciated!
