Get it renewed if you want. Or let it expire. Either way it won't affect your I-485.

Good.

Why would your GC get rejected if you renew your EAD?
Your EAD will be approved as long as you send in all the required docs and the filing fee.

That's a long time to wait. I hope you'll get it soon.

I think you should not work if your EAD has expired until and unless you have a valid H1B and not using your EAD. Experts would know better.

I don't understand it.

2nd EAD expired on 03/22/08

I'm not on H1B. But I have been working for same employer last 10 yrs. Eventually abandoned H1B and used AP to enter the country..

Please help!

I think, its a MUST to keep EAD current. right?

Thanks for your reply!!
So how long I have before I could renew EAD. Is it mandatory to keep EAD current? Will my 485 get rejected w/o EAD renewal?

If you work without valid, unexpired EAD for more than 6 monthe, by then you are violating immigration law. Your I-485 may be adversely affected to the extent of denial. You should go on unpaid leave till you get your new EAD.
Now you already accumulate sometime working with expired EAD and it is your responsibility, not the employer responsibility, to keep your EAD valid and apply sometime in advance to renew it. What you can do now is to apply for renewal and quit your job till you get the new one. It is better to stay without income for feww weeks than to accumulate more illegal work time.

You should have mentioned that you were working.
That is illegal on an expired EAD. As others have suggested, quit your job immediately or go on upaid leave.
Apply for EAD and take up this job or another after approval.
ALWAYS have a current EAD before taking up a job and as long as you're working.
You have already accrued illegal work days. Talk to a lawyer and see what can be done about it.
As long as it's less than 180 days, which it seems to be, you might be able to get away without very severe consequences.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THE RULES!

Even though U apply for renewal now, your new EAD Validity will be from the date of the expiry of the last one. We had this experience with my wife's EAD card which was expired before we got the new one. She discontinued her part-time job immediately- but when the EAD arrived after 2 Months, it had the validity from previous date.

So, in my view, you can continue to work without any issues

This May be true if you apply few months in advance and the new card issued few days or so after expiration of the old one. But if you have an expired card (like the case of the OP here), let us say after one year or so (personal experience), for sure the new one will be effective from the aproval date and has nothing to do with the expired card's date. Do not listen to one say, I worked with expired card with no problem, this may happen but not the role
