USCIS's similar response

Me too...

Just a couple of days ago I received an email from USCIS ("CRIS") regarding my inquiry:

"The status of this service request is:

We received your request to expedite the decision on your application. Your case is currently under review. You will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly."

Has anyone on this forum received the same notice? How long will it take further as the word "shortly" means very soon. Anyone in this situation? Please share your experience....

called the customer care and gave them the wrong number.. the forwarded the call to someone else (I think that IO)... she told me we cannot do anything about Name Check... I asked her any advice that she wants to give me that would help ... she goes I will give you the FBI webpage... I was like don't you think I know that... she was ahh... and then I asked her can I sue the immigration department... would that help... she goes not really .. .I said I think so. I took her name and said #$%^ U in my mind and hanged up the phone.... But one thing.... THEY HAVE HIRED LOTS OF PEOPLE ... lots of people to HANDLE the calls coz every calls are being answered in 2 rings...

:D Every post from ghantabro makes reading this forum worthwhile. So frank, straight out of the heart, authentic. :)

Yes 2 rings and customer service reps comes around to help:(Snicker:eek:)
1. give you information that you already know.
2. Tell you something that is totally meaningless.
3. waste time by asking irrelevant questions.
3. asking for your call to be transferred to an IO (if your case is not available online) - may not happen now. They may put in a service request that will take 45 days!
4. satisfaction rate with service - zero.
Then their closing statement - a bummer - is there any otherway I can help you? BS.

I had asked the customer care to expedite my case on the basis of Medical - immense mental tension, Monetary Loss -- cannot apply for jobs with citizenship requirements and Can't meet my wife.

I received a letter from Baltimore DO sayin that:

We received your request to expedite the decision on your application. Your case is currently under review. You will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly...

I am sure all the above means CRAP, BS and it is just a print out sent to me with my name and address!!!!

Ghanta Bro,

The "cannot meet wife" maybe the only reason they may look at. If they decide to expedite (I dont know if they will since many others can be in the same situation too), this can be the only reason.

Mental tension - everyone who is waiting has it, I dont know why they will give it special attention.
cannot apply for certain jobs - yes, again, everyone waiting has this restriction.

I have been waiting longer hence more mental tensions. I know they will not give a Rat Ass about my case until I file a WOM in april.... seems like I am 25% immigration lawyer very soon I will have knowledge of another field of law.... I might become a lawyer before a Citizen and a Father! .... Guys go for it ... WOM!!!

I talked with an Immigration lawyer asking her about the lawsuit .... she told me that lots of people are getting IL now... and don't be surprised if I get it by April... She thinks that it should be done by April if not then the decisive step.

Why wait; I have pretty much the same case and I have sent them my WOM with 30 days' dealine. If I don't get the IL within next 3 weeks then see them in court of law. No more dilly dally; and I have the same advice you ya, take the action right now and file it without an attorney. If you need any help I can send ya all the drafts; so easy....

Since I am getting ready to file WOM next month... today I did my due deligence. Posted mails requesting to expedite my name check to 15 government rep (laura bush, dick cheney, muller .......). Hope they do something soon.

Anyone requested FOIPA from a FBI Field OFfice?

I received my standard edition FOIPA reply from the FBI HQ saying "no records". However, on filing an appeal (asking them to search against cross references) I received a letter from the HQ saying that the FBI Field Office in XXX city may have records that may be responsive to my request and that I file a separate FOIA request to them. I did, but have heard nothing from them. Anyone else with any experience here? I'm worried what sort of records they might have. I have led a clean life with no brushes with the law whatsoever.

Tabalia - a thought

Hi,

Have you ever been a victim of identity theft or credit card fraud or a part of class action lawsuit?

This may have your name included in one of their file.(even as a victim, or a witness). This may trigger a namecheck.

so leading a clean life is no guarantee you will not be caught in name check.

All the best

Regards

It's not enough for you to have a clean life; you also need people with similar names to have a clean life!

What's in a name? A Rose with any other name ....
... could have passed the name check.

From Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, 1594:

JULIET:
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.

thou shalt conquer!!!!

How I wish my daddy would called me something realy funny instead of a decent name that may be common. I think my name was in one of the class action lawsuits for credit card or western union.. .some BS like that coz I remember getting couple of mails about those lawsuits.

Now that you ask me, yes, I might be included in a credit card related class action suit (not sure really - will have to check). I probably did not act to remove my name from such an email (be default you are included - you have to explicitly ask for removal). Do all such things end up in fbi records?

And I have had letters from my bank stating that I was among those whose account records were stolen/compromised from a laptop that went missing or was stolen. Perhaps such victims lists make their way into the fbi records as well?

Strange.

That begs the question: why would this be in city XXX field office records rather than in city yyy (in CA) where the class action lawsuit was filed? There was a yahoo class action lawsuit in which I was included and failed to respond. I just checked but I wonder why city xxx FO would have a record of this.

I had filed for FOIPA two weeks back... received a response from FBI that no record was found in their main db.

That'll be one of the most valuable pieces of evidence for your WOM.

Indeed. That's a good first step. In addition, however, you should try and follow the appeal process listed in the FOIPA response you got, to ask them (HQ) to check against "cross" or "see" references. In the response you got it is only a check against main files.

In addition, send a new FOIPA to your local Field Office as well (their records can only be obtained by asking them directly - not through the HQ). Most major cities have a FO - your's (or your jurisdiction's) should have one too. That way you may claim you have covered all angles. This is what I'm trying to compile.
