Invest $500,000 in the U.S. to get GC!!!

I was reading the newspaper today(Waseet-America, Its for Arabic speaking people), and I saw a specious ad.The ad stated that "if you invest $500,000 in the united states, Ka***&Associates can assist you in acquiring a Green card for you and each member of your immediate family, here and abroad, in six months or less!". Is this a legit way of getting a GC? If not I can scan the ad and report it to USCIS(It would be great if can tell me what to include in the e-mail).

P.S. I didn't know where to post this thread, If this is the wrong section please move to where it belongs!

Thank you.

If it was before 11 September, it could be quite possible to get work permit and stay permit. If the investment purpose is related to real business, in this case you will get work and stay permit (Even it is not easy) but not green card.
The add you have seen is unrealistic..Report it to USCIS.

It is a real greencard. You have to be able to create a few jobs with ur half a million $$ or i think invest in stocks. U get a conditional greencard the first time and then will have to reapply in 2 yrs to get a perm card. At that time, USCIS will determine if ur investment was legit

This is true. It's so called EB5 visa. You don't even need to operate the business yourself. The original amount is 1M USD but in some areas it's 500K USD. However as said above, you need to wait two years before you get the GC (if you qualify at the end of two years).

No this is a work permit. I should not call together with 'stay permit".
If you have a work permit, then you have resident status.
Have you met the people in the US who have been working under work permit?
You must be kidding..

Maybe it's a green card. :)

ITS NOT A WORK PERMIT. ITS A GREENCARD. WHATS HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT

Upon the question:

Lucymo: 'What is a "work and stay permit" though? never heard of it'

Plus07 says: 'Maybe it's a green card'

I say: No this is a work permit.

J-1 or H1B visas allow you to work in the US (I can call them work permit). These visas allow you to reside and work in the US (not permanently). Are u you trying to say this is GC? No because you didnt follow the course of this thread..It is better to read the thread carefully before saying something.

I am not pretending now who invests 500 000 $ cannot have a GC theorically. Who started this thread let him/her make investment 500 000 $ and try to get GC. I look forward to reading his/her experiences here :)

J1 & H1 is different, they are for temporary worker(though J1 should not be for "worker").
E visa is for investment.

and what is EB5 if there is no LPR for investers ?

F-1 students also have EADs, but that doesn't provide them with a right to reside in the US...

Investment of $500000 in a business that employs atleast 10 people or a USCIS approved regional center does get you a GC. However, the GC is initially for 2 years and then can be made permanant if the business is still valid or the regional center is still in operation.

You get a conditional GC, then after 21 months apply for the conditions to be lifted. Your investment must have remained all that time, and created 10 full time jobs, then once lifted you have a proper GC.

This is a bona fide scheme. I know people who have applied and are now living in USA. Agreed, it is complex but do-able. Google EB5 visa and you will see lots of programs that are available. There is an element of risk and that is that if the buisness fails you will not get your money back and various programs keep your hard earned dosh for a number of years and offer very littler return but if you want the green card I suppose those are the legal risks that some people would take. I seriously thought about going down this route and have researched this extensively.
