Even US citizens can get deported

What happend to all the computerization of this country? and what happend to akl those good and honestly working people?

Many born US citizens aren't in the system as being citizens; their only proof is an old birth certificate that ICE/USCIS has never seen. Also, many derived citizens (e.g. obtained citizenship automatically through their parents' naturalization) aren't listed in the system as citizens. As a result, verifying their citizenship isn't straightforward and they may still have to wait days or months in detention (or get deported if the authorities are too lazy to run all the necessary checks).

That's why if you got citizenship other than through naturalization, it is important get a passport and/or N600 as proof of citizenship, so the verified evidence of your citizenship is readily available in the ICE/USCIS records.

As much as I despise the "Big Brother" syndrome, this may be one of the positive aspects of Real ID. This way, anyone would be able to prove their status by reaching in their wallet.
