Leaving U.S. means abandoning H1 application?

Hi all,
I left the U.S. while I had a H1 pending application and came back to U.S. using my Advance Parole before the approval of my petition. Last week I received the approval of my H1 and new I-94 form. Does this mean that my current status is H1? Somebody told me that leaving U.S. while the application is pending means abandoning your application. Is this right for H1 too? I wanted to bring my wife based on H4 application.

Please advise
Thanks

Your case is extension, not change of status. Not considered abandoning the application even though you traveled during pending.

----------- if file Change of status and go then it is Abandoned if you go out but EXtension of status is not Abandoned .That "somebody: gave you wrong info

-----------------You are on H1 and your Latest I-94 is attached with H1 extension approval (lower right side) Take out the I-94 and staple in your passport. you wife can get H4 as you are on valid H1 status
Please advise

Thanks Ginnu and GotPR. I am not sure if I catch your point about Extension of Status versus Change of Status. By Change of Status do you mean changing non-immigration to immigration?
I was on H1 status (till 2009) at University A, I then filed for I-485 and multiple times I used my advance parole to return to US. However I filed for my new H1 with university B before my last departure.
Considering this situation, do I still hold the H1 status?

Thanks

-----Change of Status or COS is if you are in US on H4 then file change of status to H1 from H4 Or from H1 to H4. if you are on H1 then file H1 extension then it is extension of same status and is not change of status

Thanks Ginnu. Yes you are right. I checked the approval notice of my new H1 application, and it clearly says that "the above extension of stay has been approved".
Thanks for clarifying this out.
