can i travel internationally with my new Green Card?

i just was informed that i will be getting my green card in a month.
Can i travel to europe now with just my gc or do i have to get a passport from my home country-canada?Will i need my ap papers to return to the states?

You will need your passport to travel internationally. Hardly anyone can travel internationally w/o a passport. Even USCs need a passport now to go to Canada.

If you have your GC in hand or an I-551 stamp on your passport you don't need AP papers.

Yup, you will need a valid passport from your home country and your GC, is all you need. Talk to your consulate.

This is not, strictly speaking, true. USCs need a passport to re-enter the United States by air after visiting Canada. The Canadians don't require a passport to enter, and one is not required when returning back by land.

I second that. I have been living in the US since late 2002. I have made around 20 land crossings into Canada and not even once did the Customs officer asked to see my Canadian passport. Verbal declaration has always done the trick. Flying into YYZ is different. They always scan my passport
