Concurrent Filing - Using Cross Chargeability

Hi WellWisher:

We did get confirmation numbers for both of our inquiries. I believe I used the POJ method ... I called the 1-800 # and then selected a series of options (numbers) that I found on one of the older posts on this forum. I hope I did it correct.

Could you please do me a big favor and post the POJ method again? I was thinking of calling them again to check on NC clearance even though I have the inquiry confirmation numbers and been asked to wait for 60 days. I hope I don't get yelled at!

Thanks so much for your help.

POJ technique:
Call 1-800-375-5283
Press 1
Press 2
Press 2
Press 6
Press 1
Now enter your receipt number
press 1 (now listen to the case update info....)
press 3
press 4

Good luck buddy.

MDGUTS1307,

Hi Still - Can you tell me what POJ is and what it stands for? My 485 app is now 2 months past the 6 month TSC window (filed in March '07). I called the 800 number before but did not use your method, and the rep told me that she has no visibility into my case and will open an enquiry and I would get a letter detailing the status of my case? How is this POJ different and should I attempt it?

Thanks! I am just trying to understand why my case is still stuck if they are now processing cases withing 6 months

Dedo,

I will go ahead and answer your question. Still add more also.
POJ stands for Prince of Jungle. This was the online name used by one of the members of this forum. He figured out a technique of calling and getting to the IO at TSC. Thats why this is called the POJ technique in his honor. He got his GC about 2 years ago and does not roam this jungle any more.

Yes you should try this technique as you will get an IO why may (or may not) be helpful. It is worth a try.

Additionally, get one of your local congressman or senator to look in to the status of your case. Generally they can tell you what is holding it up.

Good Luck !

I spoke to an IO last week (using POJ). She told me that even if I open a SR, all I will get is a document stating that background check is not complete (mine app is pending background check since Feb this year). She told me there is no value in opening a SR. Anyone on this forum has had a different experience opening a SR?

SR is beneficial only after you have cleared the Name check. However, i strongly suggest that you initiate the SR if you are eligible to start one - irrespective of whether the name check is cleared or not.

LOL.....MDGUTS! Thanks for that

All - Only reason they opened an SR is because the rep had no idea what was holding up my case (I even suggested name check but she couldn't tell) and this is what she suggested. I am assuming that I will get a form letter from TSC, thats all. Not sure what else to do here than just wait it out

Dedo,

I would strongly recommend getting your local congressman or senator to look into the status of your case. I did this and each time I got a written update on the status of my case from the congresswoman's office. I usually got a response in 4-6 weeks from their office. This may come in useful if ever ( hopefully not) you wish to file for WOM to expedite your NC.

I did use the POJ method and figured out that my name check was cleared. In fact I called them twice and both times, I was able to get that information.
Not sure if they are supposed to give that information or not - but they do have access to the name check info. Are you sure you are using the POJ method?

To my understanding an inquiry is equivalent to a Service request. If you do not have a confirmation number for the inquiry that they have initiated, you should call them and ask for the same.
Hi WellWisher:

So I called again using the POJ method posted by StillPatient, and yet again, I was unable to get a response on whether I've cleared FP and NC or not. The lady said that she cannot tell me this info because she cannot see it. She asked me if I'd like her to put in a Service Request. I said that I had already called a few days ago and an inquiry has been initiated, but I was just calling to find out if I had cleared my NC or not. I asked her if she could check the status of my inquiry, since I have a reference number available. She said that she cannot see that info, all she can do is create a Service Request in the system -- but once created, they cannot go back and access it to check its status. She said it will take 40 days or so for me to hear back from USCIS, if a Service Request has already been submitted (I'm assuming here that initiating an inquiry is same as creating a Service Request). This is odd, because at the time I called and initiated the inquiry, I was told to wait for 60 days. She said USCIS was off due to the Thanksgiving holidays, plus the Christmas holidays are coming up, so things get a little delayed, but you will receive a letter from USCIS. (I know, if anything, her "holiday" excuse would've been more legit if she had suggested that it will take > 60 days, and not 40 days that she mentioned...I fail to understand that logic!).

Anyways .... one thing I noticed was ... when I called using the POJ method, I heard a message saying "there's no one available to assist you at this time. Your call will be transferred to the main USCIS customer service center so a representative could assist you" .... is that the reason perhaps I could not find out any info about my NC?

StillPatient, with the POJ method you suggested, does the call get routed directly to NSC, or to some USCIS main customer service center? I'm thinking maybe if I'm able to get hold of some rep at NSC, I might get luckier.

What does POJ stand for? I don't have any clue, so does most gurus on all these forums.

From what you have written Iam sure u got connected to the national service center. The IOs at National Service Center have no xtra info other than what we see after we login.

Use the sequence of nos that I posted, this is the POJ method and you should get connected to ur SC. Towards the end of the number seq it will ask you "if u filed several cases and are worried that they have been separated press 4" and this is the last step and u will get connected. Ypu should hear "u have connected to the Texas(or Nebreaska, I guess) Service Center...". Another clue, the recorded voice message after a while would say u have a wait time for 20-30 minutes. If u hear "there's no one available to assist you at this time" it might be lunch time, just hang up and call again.

Just google POJ technique and you will get loads of info.

About ur 6 months question: My suggestion, just keep trying the POJ technique and ask for ur NC status. If it is beyond 6 months, as ur case is, and u r told that ur NC has not returned, write to ur congman/woman, Senator, FL. After u get a reply from USCIS about ur enquiry rewrite to congman/woman, Senator, FL with this reply as attachment. Symultaneously get a FOIPA done.

There is no harm in starting the groundwork, at least u wont regret like me not starting these things earlier.

Just keep posting all ur questions/thoughts/experiences.

Still,

POJ stands for PRINCE OF JUNGLE, the online name of one of the former forum members !
He came up with this technique. You can look at his posts in the forum. He left the jungle sometine in 2005 as he got his GC.

Hi All,

Called up TSC again today using the POJ technique and the IO told me that everything including NC is clear. I then asked her what next, she said that my case would get assigned to an officer.

I then told her that my visa number is current, then she said u r the primary and ur COB is going to get charged, so I explained CC, she then asked me to hold and returned after 15-20 seconds and asked me my wife's Receipt number and her COB and then after a moment said that she has emailed the supervisor to consider both our cases together as cross-chargebility cases.

I now asked her what about our FPs they after more than 15 months old, she said now-a-days they just update their system with the previous FPs and FP date shows 11-09-07.

Lets see how long after this I need to wait for the next LUD.
