another one of my friend got denied in first interview and was appointed about 14 months later. they were so upset and asked their lawyer to talk to immigration. luckily the lawyer was able to reduce the time frame to 3 months, and now they got approved.
Thank you all for the answers.
She overstayed for 2 years before getting married in Feb 2004, then filed I-485 in Jan 2005.
She is in NY and I believed it will take about 3 years to get the GC thru employers if she is approved.
1. if they withdraws the petition, will she be able to stay...
It's my friend's case. She got married in 2004, but filed for I-485 one year later. She overstayed before getting marriage. Their first interviewed is in mid 2006, but it wasn't good. Now, they just received the second interview appointment on this coming March 17th.
She's afraid that the...
Is it unusual to get the 2nd interview in the next 16 months? I've heard MANY OF MY FRIENDS got the first interview in 2001 and the 2nd one in 2004 (NYC cases.) but that was 6 years ago. I'm not sure about now.

sarrebal, yes, I was surprised and nervous at the same time, but the interview went well. by the way, your interview is fast as well...
congrats to you! then what's next? I heard from my lawyer that I have to schedule the infopass to get my passport stamped at the local office and wait 6 months for the GC. How long does it take to get the passport stamped? Do I need to take leave half a day for that? Because if it's just...
