Finally, today I received acknowledgement from INS. Waiting for interview letter now. Any idea how long it is taking nowdays to get an invite for interview?

Anywhere from 5-7 months to receive your IL although that may change in coming months. You will first receive a fingerprint notice in the coming weeks or months.

When can I possibly vote?

This might be a stretch but I was just wondering, if my application progresses thru average speed will I be able to vote in this Presidential election? What milestones does it need to hit in order to qualify for registering as a voter?

Some states allow same day registration, whereas others have a registration deadline several days/weeks before election.

My check was chased yesterday (12/3/2007)

MD was July 28th. Delivered on the 31st.

I sent in my application via regular mail on the 26 of July to Texas and still haven't heard anything from them and they had not cashed checks either. I'm getting a little worried here!
