Work as a teacher

I would like to know whether it is necessary to have any formal certification/ degree or diploma in education like B.Ed to work as a teacher. I am a graduate in Electrical Engg (BE - five year undergrad program after 12 year schooling) from India and am working as a Sr Vice President in a large bank. I understand there is shortage of teachers in USA. I wish to take up this noble profession as I enjoy it and I love to teach children. I can teach Mathematics, Physics, Computers and Accountancy up to the High School level very comfortably. I will need a work visa (H1). Can some one help me? How do I go about it ? Thanks.

find in job sites. There are many consulting company which will do the H1. Problem is US consulate will think you are overqualified for the job and might refuse visa.

Can anybody give me list of consultant/company name who r willing to file H1 for me .I have searched several job site but vain.

I m working in India as a Sr. Developer with one of the big firms.

To work as a teacher you need Teacher Credential especially in California.

Yes, there is opportunity.

One year program available in all California state universities to became certified teache.
Without this credential you may not consider as a teacher in USA.

Go to (through search engines) CSU sites find out teacher credential programms details.

Thanks Greatguru for your very useful lead. To take up the program for qualifying as a teacher we need to go to US. I am told that visas are issued for one year to enable the aspirant to qualify or obtain the necessary credentials/ certifications for working as a teacher. I am told that the Visa obtained under this category expires after one year.What is the procedure for this? Is it necessary to get a job contract as teacher for this? How do we go about it? Thanks.

Go to www.nu.edu or www.csudh.edu get application form.
They will admit you and issue I 20 to get your F1 visa in India.
You have to show evidence of $12K and TOEFL score.

Current trend, US is issuing more student visas.

After one year course you will get optional practical training (visa) permission. You can work one year mean time some school will sponser you for H1 visa.

No financial assistance available for foreign students taking credential courses.

After this course you can enroll MS in Education, Special Education or Instructional Technology to climb the ladder in education.

You have to improve you English Accent dramatically, for that lot of books/CDs available for $50.00 (Accent Reduction Course), search Amazon . com to buy the books.
