I found the following wording in the Interview Letter for my wife and me:

Request for Applicant to Appear for Naturalization Initial Interview (I-797C, Notice of Action):

You are hereby notified to appear for an interview on your Application for Naturalization at the date, time and place indicated above. Waiting room capacity is limited. Please do not arrive earlier than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. The proceeding will take about two hours.

1) I am wondering why they call it an "Initial Interview"? Would they be more to follow?
2) Also they have indicated it "will take about two hours."! Most interview experiences I have heard about say it took about 15 mins to 30 mins.

Can someone who has received the Interview Letter and gone through an interview comment? Does your interview letter also contain the same wordings?

Thanks.

That's standard on all Interview letters.

1) Standard form letter. Everyone gets it. Almost no one has more than 1 interview.

2) So that you don't whine if you're there for up to 2 hours. Sometimes they get backlogged, etc and you're waiting around for a while past your appointment time before your actual interview. My interviewer got into a wreck on the way to work that morning and i had to wait until 11 for my interview even though I was scheduled for 9 AM.

1. Intial - because they are keeping their options open should they need a second interview if they find unusual issues such as basis of green card itself looks shaky.
2. In the land of the laywers, suggesting more time is better than being sued or having irate customers who may have to wait.

This is also government speak to keep options open till the very end.
