Withdrawing Asylum Application in US

Hi Everyone,
I have this pressing need for an answer on asylum withdrawal. It's just two months before I appear an immigration judge. Likewise, I have already been through fingerprinting process. But now, I would like to withdraw my case altogether. Would that be simple enough?
Also, when I first filed the application, I was in a valid tourist visa which after a month of applying expired. Hopefully that would not be considered as being on an illegal status or would it? And if i go back to my country, would all these have any negative consequences to getting a visa to US again(be it student visa, or tourist visa).
I would really appreciate the effort.

Thankful, I agree it's as simple as finding a good lawyer. But don't you get the reason why we have forums..to talk about things we are comfortable with...But I will take it as a good advice. No hard feelings but you gotta learn to control your emotions man.

First of all, since you have started the process, why don’t you see what the judge have to say? As for your questions, if you want to withdraw your application all you need is to write to them and let them know that you no longer want to apply for asylum. The next thing is your status in the country. If you are out of status and you want to leave the country voluntarily, I don’t think they are ganno have any problem with that. As regards your country, you are best person to know that. I don’t know your country specific. Also if there are nothing on your passport indicating you applied for asylum in another country they may not be able to find out that. Regarding your prospects of coming to the US, that is up in the air. Nobody on this earth can answer that question. There are many factors to consider that you would only be able to know when you reapply and what the officer at the consulate has to say…… as far as hiring a lawyer goes, I am not a fan of lawyers. If your case is simple, and you are not a high profile individual you are more likely well off doing your homework and getting your work done. Lawyers are expensive and very busy. In most cases, they go with you as a formally and deliver a result you could have got by yourself. Of course, if you run into trouble it would make sense to hire one, but as long you can drive yourself, keep going….

My recommendation is to appear before Immigrtion court. Failure to do so could result in an arrest warrant. Believe it or not I was 10 minutes late and the Judge was in the middle of writing my arrest warrant. When he saw me, he took it away. Appear in Immigration court on your date and just tell the judge you want to withdraw the application. The judg will tell you your rights and the case will be withdrawn with your consent. This is how it happened to someone when I was in Immigration court.

If you take voluntary departure, you can apply for a visa again and if you are lucky you will get the visa. If you want to get deported at the U.S. Govt expense, you will be barred to to come to the U.S. for 10 years.
