With all due respect for those patient GC waiters before me I wanted to know when you guys think that May2001 will begin, I know it's a long time to go but since there are some pretty good forecasters on this board I was wondering on an opinion from you experts.

My 180 days are up at the end of Nov so this is really important to me.

Thanks to all and I wish you all good luck with your soon approvals.:)

You meant May 2002 right,

If not you have fallen off the boat and not realised it.

May 2002

If U are talking of MAy 2002 then,,

Well, My prediction would be March...Hopefully...
The only reason being, decrease in the No of cases after October..., so if INS keeps approving the same no of cases it does today, it shud be pretty fast..from Nov onwards...

July16......
I laughed for abt 2 mins after reading yr comment.I am sure he/she talking abt may'02.

I am still waiting....

Hi Guys,

Of course I am talking May 2002..... I had a typo.... I guess I feel like it has been soooo long...!!

Thanks for the input.

I am in a worse position - RD July 2002 and I'm already wondering when approval will be. I feel guilty even thinking about it since it has not been long at all. I am hoping for May. That is my hope....A girl can dream.

Happy Friday to everyone :)

dream vs nightmare

Well you keep dreaming while my nightmare continues.
My RD is July 2001 (that's two thousand and one) and no sign from INS yet. No RFE and no decision. Just pending. This has turned from an application to permenant residency to application for permenant torture.

Cheers.

Call. Speak to an IIO. Ask if the case is in "workload distribution", or if it's been assigned to an officer. Sometimes things get a little lost in the shuffle, and you need to be proactive in finding out what is going on.

If you are not satisfied with the response you get, contact your Senator or Representative. Depending on the size of your state, you may get better support from one or the other. If you are unsure who to contact, please give me your ZIP code and I would be happy to find out your Senators and Representative and give you my opinion on who'd be better to deal with.

thanks

Thanks Canadian,
I've called them several times and so did the law firm.
They claim it's with an officer and waiting for an answer from another INS department. That mystery answer was given to me since July 2002. No idea what department this is and what is delaying it. I will not start to bug senators unless it is over the "projected time frame" which is 18 months.
In anycase, speaking of canada, I might apply for canadian green card now that it seems that the american one is seeming more distant.

freaked

I am so happy to know that I am not the only person that is waiting to some hear something from INS...My RD is 07.06.2001 and still waiting. I would have called atleast 10 times between July and Sept'02.

Keep me posted if you hear anything

Torture continues....

My advice would be to spend the 37 cents and send your politician a letter. It never hurts to get a pattern established, and even if they tell you to go away until 18 months have passed, you've started the process. If you write your letter in a clear and reasonable manner, you might find that some logjam gets cleared up.

Regarding the file they are looking for, it may be that your I-140 was approved for CP and they need to get the whole I-140 file back from NVC or (Lord forbid) your home country consulate. The odd part about this is that the SOP states that if they cannot retrieve the I-140 file after two tries, they should route the case to an officer and approve it based on just the I-140 approval notice. Since your case is with an officer, I'm confused.

You need to find out what they're waiting on. Maybe your Congressman can find that out for you! Remember, knowledge is power, and it sure as heck beats waiting and worrying, and getting frustrated.

Don't bother with Canada. You don't see Americans emigrating all over the world, but every year 10,000 to 20,000 Canadian-born individuals (never mind naturalized citizens) leave Canada and get US PR. We know something that you don't (yet). :)
