hi All;

I Have couple questions:
1. for people who already got the actual Green Card through asylum, how do they suppose to travel legally? I heard by RTD or Reentry permit? what is the different and is there any other legal way?
2. Will people who has Green card through asylum and travel abroad (except home country where he/she claimed prosecution) be affected at all when they appy for citizenship?there was discussion about this:
http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=183340
that's why I ask.

Thank's. Please reply. :)

The normal rules with respect to break(s) to the residency requirement apply. Go the USCIS website for information. http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/natz/require.htm

Ditto to thanful's posting. As long as you adhere to the PR requirements of USA absense and physical presense, you will have no problem.

If you plan on staying outside the USA for more than 1 year - apply for a Re-entry Permit. This allows you to stay out of the USA for upto 2 years without jeopardizing your PR status. It will break your continous residency however, and you will have to wait for 4 years and 1 day AFTER your return to apply for citizenship.

Other than that - trips for vacation and such usually pose no threat.

so which one?

so must I still apply for Refugee Travel Document for travel even though I already have green card? where is the law that said that?
and let's say if I travel 2 weeks, is that mean those 2 weeks will not be counted and basically it will be 2 weeks longer for me to apply for citizenship? anyway please let me know.

calm down and go wherever you have to. none would count anything unless you stay over a year.

Actually six months or more will break the continuous residency. So please do not stay more more than six months outside the USA.

Check the 'citizenship' link on uscis.gov site for a detailed explanation regarding citizenship requirements.

Hi Ken,

Make sure you plan carefully if you go back to your home country. It might affect your approval in naturalization.
