Will the I-94 be till Approval expiry regardless of startdate ?

My wife and son are re-entering USA on 5-NOV-2006, the VISA stamping on their passport is still 14-DEC-2006.
The new H4 approval for them is valid from 25-DEC-2006 to 13-May-2009 (Their old I-94 was till 24-DEC-2006).
My question is that as they already surrendered the I-94 with the 24-DEC-2006 date, will it be a problem for them at the port of entry for getting the new I-94 till the end date of the approval or the officer will only issue I-94 till the date in the passport? because without the old I-94, there is a Gap of 10 days....Pls help me !!!!

At the POE they will be issued a new I-94 valid till the end of the H4 approval notices (as there are 2 H4's - one each for your wife and son) since they will be showing these H4 approval papers to the immigration officer

---------- they will get I-94 till Visa validity date at POE
OR
*if they show your H1 approval notice AND valid visa stamps at POE then they will get I-94 till your H1 approval notice.(that is safe and POE officer understands)

So even with a GAP of 10 days (between Passport VISA expiry date and new H4 approval start date) by showing the new approval at POE, they should be good.

Should they show their new H4 approval notice or my new H1 approval notice (which does not have this date GAP issue)...note: I will be also accompanying them on their return.

Dependents show valid Visa stamp in passport that is valid14-DEC-2006 AND your H1 approval notice
you show your valid H1 stamp AND H1 approval notice( if your approval has validity more than H1 visa stamp).
