Hi

Im new to the forum, :)

My dad has filed for US Immigrant visa for me on April 22, 2002,
Visa type: 203 (a) (2) (B) INA.

I was above 21 then, But now my dad has become the US citizen last yea.

Its been almost 6 yrs now and Im waiting for the visa call.

Anyone can pls tell me when would my priorty dates would come, I mean would can i expect my visas to come  ???

^ Thanks for the reply

Yes, my dad notified the uscis to change my status, it was last year Sept 07.

Oh..yes, just when i was posting here earlier, We received a "request for additional evidence" from usics, asking us to submit my birth certificate + dad's US passport copy...

So does it mean my visa processing has started????

..cause the link above says right now current priority date is 22Feb02, while my petition was filed on 22April02????

no, that simply means that they are missing documents that they need. Approval ofI-130 does not indicate that your PD is about to become current.

did you even look at the visa bulletin link I sent you to see IF YOUR PRIORITY DATE WAS NEAR?

Yea... I saw the visa bulletein link... im in india, above 21 and unmarried + dad is us citizen

so i fall into f1 category... right??

and the bulletein says priority date for f1(umarrried sons/daughters of us citizen) is 22Feb02 and my petition was filed on 22April02 ...
so does'nt it mean that in couple of month my priority dates would be current???

pls tell me if Im wrong.. I hardly understand this stuff :( .... ur help would be appreciated!

^ Thanks for the replies... :)

I wish they should not lag behind ...they should process it fast... (atleast this time...lol!)

But, something strange i've seen in april08 bulletein...

Current priority dates:
F1: (us citizen): 22 Feb02
2A: (us residents): 08MAY03

how come 2A priority dates r ahead almost a year then the us citizen ones?????

So right now US residents have more preference than the US citizens!

Sometimes I just think... if my petition was not upgraded(...or i'll say degraded!) after my dad became a USC to First category, my visa dates would have been nearer (2A)!

Mijac, F2A is for spouses and children under 21 of permanent residents. If you're over 21, you'd be F2B with longer wait for most countries. I suppose there are more visa numbers available for F2A to keep families with underage children together. (The citizen counterpart of F2A would be an immediate relative category!) However, you'll also see that some countries have longer wait for F1 than F2B categories.

^ Is it so!

since im above 21..so even if my dad was still a US resident.. i'd be in F2B category and it would have taken more than half a decade for my priority date to be current :(

austriacus.. this rectifies a lot of my doubts which were going on my mind
and it almost made me --->

:) Thanks for explaining, I appreciate your effort ..thanks!

Hey People

My i-130 has been approved, so now i guess, the only thing i need to do is wait for my priority date to be current :)

Im so happy :)

Hi Mijac!

Congratulations! I hope you are done with your interview, or about to have it soon. My case is just as yours, please help me by answering some questions I sent to you on PM..

Thanks & Good Luck

^ Thanks andy :)

People thanks to all for replyin back, I have one doubt:
I received 'Choice of Agent' form. I wanted to know how important is it that we need a lawyer to proceed with the case. Because I would like to proceed with my case by myself. And is it necessary to acknowledge back the form to NVC, if i dont reply back, is it taken for granted that I am going to proceed without any attorney/lawyer?

any help on this would be much appreciated :)
